Hi there, my name is Mika and I live in Samaipata in the Bolivian mountains near Santa Cruz de la Sierra. I am a well traveled German/Finnish motorcyclist, that has decided to live in Samaipata. I bought an older house and I have some land around it about five blocks from village center. As here is always something to do, if you want to come and help, you are more than welcome. You can stay in a seperate room with a shared bathroom. I have very often biker friends and couchsurfers staying for a few days, but I need somebody that would stay longer ( a minimum of three weeks) and help with things on the house and the garden for 5 hours a day. Feel free to contact me over this website. See you here mika

This rich biodiversity and healthy ecosystem are a result of the conservational and protective activities carried out inside the Reserve.

It's a hard work but you'll feel good knowing you're, to a certain extent, helpint to fight against climate change.

We are a Dutch/Bolivian couple. We have a small family farm at about 40 minutes driving from the city of Tarija (There is daily transport to the city). We cultivate products for the local market, such as potatoes, vegetables, grapes and herbs.

The farm is located in a very dry area. In the summer we need to irrigate once of twice a month, depending on the rainfall. A part has drop irrigation, other parts have to be irrigated with small water canals.

Furthermore we need to sow, weed and harvest. The grass on the pathways have to be mowen. We would like to plant more trees on our land. There is always work to do :) .

In winter there are less crops on the fields, but there is always work to do. Think of mowing grass, trimming trees, reparing the small stone walls and improving the terraces. It is also possible to repair the house if you like. We would like to paint the rooms, which we can do together.

We sometimes will be working together with our Helpxers, and there is... more inside

the area is a rough dry hilly country land. It's 10km along the Pilcomayo river with fish and wildlife. We are breeding cattle on a very extensive basis. I like to develop a gps system for a better management. Especially looking for people who can help me set up gps chipping the cows and bulls and calves. Furthermore there is much to do as fencing, finding calves and lost cows.

I am a sixty-six year old woman who lives alone with 2 dogs. Since 4 years I’m living in a house on a land of 1/2 hectare. I have a small vegetable garden, papayas, chirimoyas, maracuyas and acerolas. The house is finished, but some little things like painting, repairing or improving things always need to be done. So any handiness in that is always welcome, too.

The things I grow, I go and sell from house to house by bicycle in the village . Besides some vegetables and fruits, in the afternoon I also sell yoghurt, ice-cream,marmelades and cakes that I make myself.

Every Thursday afternoon, there is a ‘Rincon de lectura’ (Mini library) I’ve been able to gather a small library and educational board games. During the Rincon I’ll read stories to the children (age 6-12), teach them some basic English and play games with them. The children can borrow books to take home. Volunteers who are motivated to help here are very welcome.

I’m looking for volunteers that would help aro... more inside

Our project's goal is to work together, constructing an alternative way of life, different from that of our current consumerist society. We strive to create a more harmonious relationship with our environment, working the land in an organic way, rearing animals as naturally as possible, recycling and reusing, looking for new modern and healthy technologies that we can adapt to the field.
To finance our project we host guests as a kind of rural tourism, tourists with who we share some of our activities. We also plan to implement an alternative education program for children.
To make real that dream we need people to help us to do it. People with knowledge about bio-construction, permaculture, renewable energies, organic agriculture, carpentry, and cooking. Also, we are just looking for people with similar wishes, who want to teach and to learn how to live in a more healthy and sustainable way.

We offer an independent room (single, twin or double). We also have a camping area nea... more inside

Help us to make Mollesnejta green again!

Green. We want it to be green again! Mollesnejta is an experimental agroecological farm located within the semiarid valleys of Cochabamba. In the last two decades volunteers, researchers, farmers and students have been meeting in this unique place to learn and exchange experiences about agroecology. In that way, the 16 hectares that form this place recovered their ecological value thanks to the application of agroforestry systems coupled with agroecological measures.

At Mollesnejta we proved that it is possible to produce fruits and vegetables without needing agrochemicals, simply applying the ancestral knowledge about sustainable agriculture that agroecology is providing us with. This technique has proven to be able to improve the productivity of the land and at the same time being ecologically sustainable. Mollesnejta has therefore contributed not only to recover soils and biodiversity at the semiarid valleys of Cochabamba, but also... more inside

Ours is a small property of around 2 has extension of arable land, at the moment the largest part is used for animal forages (mainly corn and alfalfa). In a smaller part, we are implementing organic vegetables, herbs and other crops. Three years ago we established a fruit orchard (apples and peaches), which we are currently trying to diversify. We hope this can be our main activity in the future. In a small greenhouse we plant mainly tomatoes and lettuce. In the past we also had an experimental quinoa plot (did not go well).
There are a lot of problems to solve, mainly insects and birds' attacks, too much sun and water shortage. We are working on solutions one by one (nets, barriers, shadow plants, water reservoirs).
All kind of help is welcome, although we need mostly people with some experience in growing organic products on a small scale, establishing irrigation systems that save water, fighting pests with natural methods that won't damage the environment. Persons with little... more inside

We're a Dutch migrated family, living on a piece of land on a hillslope, little bit outside of Tarija. Tarija, in southern Bolivia, has a nice climate, laid back people and know for it's wines. We have still quite a piece of land of no use that can be improved.

We offer you a choice of tasks that can be done, depending on your length of stay, capabilities and interests. For the longer stayers (at least a week), we can offer complete new “projects” which you can start and finish, so you can go on travelling with a lot of satisfaction, as we will be also. To list a few (some will also depend on our financial situation to buy materials):
- Clearing and fencing of a piece of land that we bought some 5 km further
- Terracing the hillslope back of our house to prepare it for agricultural production
- Building a new greenhouse
- Improving all electricity in and around our house, installing exterior lightning
- Repainting our house
- Catch a bee colony and start up honey production... more inside
