Hello! We are a British Bolivian family living in La Paz, Bolivia, in a beautiful semi rural village surrounded by the Andes, just 30 mins from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city La Paz.

We are very welcoming and open our family to receive people from all over the world.

Our experience with volunteers to date has been really positive and we have enjoyed extending our family to include new people.

Right now, we are setting up a eco camping ground on the mountain side where we live and welcome additional help, skills and ideas from volutneers.

The kind of volunteers we are looking for:

Aged 21+ (or proof that you have the maturity and previous experiencence in this kind of international voluntary work).

Physically fit, working at altitude can be tough!

Volunteers with experience or enthusiasm to get involved in the following areas of work:

I am a sixty year old woman who lives alone with three dogs and a vegetable garden. Since three months Im living in my newly-built house that is built on one hectare. Only a small portion of the land is used for the house, the rest is all used or is going to be used to build two small houses and to plant trees and cultivate own organic vegetables. In the soon future I wiill be getting some chickens. My vision for Mimopa2 is to create a small community with some people that think alike in life: living well and spiritually but to go back to our roots: cultivating our own, proper, organic food. So far I have already grown tomatoes, capsicum, lettuce, parsley, onions, carrots, chard, yucca, radish and other things. It would be nice to have some people over that know more about organic farming, making compost, gardening and landscaping, and permaculture. Sorata is a small town with about 2000 habitants, 170 km northeast of La Paz, altitude is 2700m and the clima is really nice ( no frost). There are buses going regularly during the day. Most population belongs to the aymara culture and works in agriculture, mining or tourism. The hostel has 10 rooms and offers breakfast and snacks. Our guests are international, as well as from Bolivia. Most tourists come for trekking and mountaineering to Sorata. There are also possibilities for mountain biking, horse riding, weaving lessons, gardening, helping in a bakery etc.. Work can be organized flexible, it includes cleaning, preparing breakfast or snacks, some administration, sometimes you will be working together with local staff (good way to improve your spanish). It is a small property of around 2 has extension of arable land, at the moment the largest part is used for animal forages (mainly corn). In a small part, we have started to implement an organic farm and we want to go on diversifying our crops with larger vegetable and fruit plots. There are a lot of problems to solve, mainly insects and animals attacks (ants, rabbits, birds), too much sun and water shortage. We are working on solutions one by one (nets, barriers, shadow plants, water reservoirs).
All kind of help is welcome, although
we need mostly people with some experience in growing organic products on a small scale, establishing irrigation systems that save water, fighting pests with natural methods that won't damage the environment. Persons with little or no experience are welcome to help in weeding, harvesting, cleaning and doing all kind of maintenance jobs around the farm (fencing, painting, mowing, constructing barriers, etc).

The farm is a property of 5 hectares interandean, we grow fruit trees and vegetables, legumes and cereals, our main objective is to reach self-sustainability and awareness of people with the environment. The main work is mind in the garden, property maintenance and some construction. It requires people who like fieldwork better if they have experience. Commitment and determination are essential requirements. The Accommodation is camping or room. Provisions for feed is the place in town that is 20 minutes of walking, you need to bring a flashlight, sleeping bag and speak basic Spanish. Work is normally 3 hours per day for lodging and breakfast rafter but this is flexible according to each volunteer, there is also the possibility of working with local children in various activities, Sundays can be leveraged to know the place and do trekin by mountains. Situated among mountains and bordered by a river (cachimayu) and a rivulet of crystaline water placed at 12 kilometers from the city of Sucre (Bolivia) at 2300 meters height on the sea level.

Part of the work to do will be to make natural building (bioconstrucción) of enclosures and walls of stone using local materials like mud, cement, stone and wood to improve our farm. Other work is to plant tress to contribute with the ambient air, the maintenance of the house. So you will be helping to improve the place and it will be a wonderful experience.
Other work we need to do is start our organic growing garden with natural composting. You will help to build and water fruits and vegetables for us to eat..

This is a small accomodation place, located at the center of La Paz city in Bolivia, we host backpackers in short stays, help needed in the guesthouse to keep it more tidy and cook for the guests or helping them to know the city.We also organize tours and treks in the city, and a house keeper or guard is needed, also a bodyguard is needed for the house and the manager. This is an apartment, not a big house, or a big hotel, we host mainly backpackers in one dormitory room, and on the other lives the manager, help is needed to care for the apartment and to keep it as nice as it is and at the center of the city, kitchen is available and bathroom for both, and cable TV and wi fi.

it's a little house with a garden into the city of Tarija. Here I do some organic growing like basil and arugula, and also artisan food products (mostly my version of artisan italian liquour Limoncello and others like my version of pesto).

Besides the room and bathroom and kitchen (for volunteers to cook), I am not offering lunch or dinner but I offer bread and things for breakfast, the vestibles of the garden and only half work in the mornings doing all kind of work in the garden and the lab or artisan foodproducts, so they can take the afternoon to walk the city or visit the country. I'd ratter to receive one person, the more 2 because of my economy and I offer them to stay from 2 weeks to a month (this year is better for me to have long term volunteers).
