OUR PROJECT TITLE
Support/help us with sustainable education development for our children's future in Sanawari village.

DESCRIPTION

We believe that a child’s future success and advancement in life is greatly influenced by their early educational experience as those who have go to school early develop an interest in education more than those who have not participated in early learning education – learning how to get along in groups, work under teacher supervision, etc. They also receive encouragement to express their feelings and ideas through building, dancing, and drawing, playing, singing and speaking. And thus, at the end of their pre-school years, they have become more competent pupils and will be more advanced in some of their abilities and be ready to master their new environment in primary and secondary education. We are located at Sanawari village -Arusha.

We hope that through volunteers support we can save and give lighter through education to our children for f... more inside

We are two brothers Emmanuel and John, hosts of this program who live in Chamazi Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Our mission is to provide education and motivation to the children and local youth to allow them opportunities for employment in the future.

We offer two major volunteer opportunities:

Organic farming volunteering? We are in need of volunteers for our community. We prefer volunteers who are willing to work, teach and show our children and community the good way how to
make organic farm in order to save our environment. Teaching other subjects to the children, teach adults English lesson, coach our foot ball club. We're flexible in what you chose to do.In the afternoons volunteers run a program called “English Corner” where they teach English classes to local people, helping adults to improve their English skills. Many strive to learn English in order to have better job opportunities in the future.

The classes are a wonderful opportunity for the volunteers and the local community members to learn from each other. The cultural exchange helps the volunteers to leaning and understand more about Tanzanian customs and develop an ear for local Swahili.

We accommodate our volunteer in the volunteer house within the host family and other we host them at the host ... more inside

NGO | Beyond Child Smile
Teaching children age 3-14 in public and private school, as well as in the library. Depending on your skillset, subjects can vary: English, Mathematics, Science,...

Our program
Our volunteer program aims to give the children in the surrounding villages a more sustaintable education. The schools are not as organised as western schools and with our program we want to try to close the gap. Private schools have 50-100 students with classes ranging from 5-30 pupils, whereas public schools can have up to 1500 students with classes of 50-80 pupils. When the number of pupils in a class becomes too high, the schools can't always afford to split the class because they don't have enough teachers. This is where you come in. After an introducton period alongside a professional teacher, when you feel comfortable, you will be able to teach a class by yourself.

What you can expect
Books are scarce. Usually there are 1 or 2 books per subject per class. Students wil... more inside

As a volunteer on the Teaching project in Tanzania, you will work in English-medium schools, government schools or orphanage schools, where the presence of volunteers is beneficial in opening the minds and broadening the horizons of the students, along with exposing them to native English speakers.

On this project, you will either work by yourself or alongside local teachers and other volunteers, teaching subjects, such as English, Math, Science, Social Studies (Geography and History), Art and Physical Education. There can be between 30 and 80 children in each class and you will often assist the local teachers with daily lessons, providing one-on-one attention to the students and sometimes relieving the teacher of a class or two per day.
