I have a small holding (five hectares) in the mountains of Hogs Back, I am currently building wooden structures. We are busy with gardening and landscaping to accommodate campers. I am a qualified woodworker and Leather Master craftsman and have taught many apprentices in both fields. The work is hard but rewarding in beautiful surroundings.

Many thanks
Wayne & Terry-Lee

With summer now here, we are getting into annual planting, compost spreading and shade tree clearing. We have started with our watering regime. With a bit of luck you might get to choose your work from the list if I have no preference. In no special order.

Life is a book and if you don't travel you only read the first page...

In December 2005 I was very fortunate to travel abroad for two years after finishing school. I met a lot of people and formed lifelong friendships with a few people from all around the globe, Learned more in those two years than the12 years in school....

I return back to South Africa in December 2007 and started the journey like every other young South African in a career, I over excelled in every career position I faced, thus was I very successful very young, I became a financial manager at BMW and stagnated in that position for the last three years. The reason I'm sharing this because I feel/know that the experiences and knowledge I gained was from meeting new people from all over the world and formed me into this special individual.

NOW- Back back to the present:
In these years back in South Africa I got married to the most beautiful, clever, one-of-a-kind girl that supports me and build me up every ... more inside

We are a family of 4- mom, dad 10 year-old boy and Granny with 3 dogs, 4 cats and 28 chickens. We have moved to an 8ha property in Baardskeerdersbos rural community at the end of September 2013. We have started from scratch as there were no buildings and no grid power. We are building our own steel-framed, straw bale house with all means of alternative power. On-going work is setting up veggie gardens, orchards and seedling greenhouses to grow fresh produce and seed as part of our income. Our long-term goal is to be self-sustaining.
Most importantly right now, We would like short-term help building with straw bales. There are still other things which need doing like setting up food gardens, repairing fencing, animal care, path making and other daily chores. We offer a private timber bungalow with a comfy queen bed, shared ablutions and meals with the family. We eat mostly simple, vegetarian food with eggs from our hens and occasional meat, and dairy bought in. We would prefer 24 +... more inside
