Amapondo Backpacker Lodge established a Non-Profit Organization called the Amapondo Children's Project (ACP) in 2006. Since then, the ACP has developed and supported a variety of initiatives where volunteers are continuously encouraged to get involved. Some of these are based / run from Amapondo Lodge itself, whilst others are located within the community. - The Healing Centre encourages healthy living both in body and mind. It inspires ethical living, where decisions and actions are aimed not only towards oneself, but also widen into consideration and support of the community around. We are a river front property in the town of Waterval Boven, Mpumalanga. The town is host to the biggest rock climbing area in Africa, boasting over 700 routes ranging from entry level to advanced. We are also en route to the Kruger National Park and Mozambique, just 2.5 hours drive from JOhannesburg.
We are in the process of building a backpackers for international travellers, a sister backpackers to Wild Spirit (Garden Route) and Wild Lubanzi (Wild Coast). Currently we are operating a restaurant, serving only healthy, well balanced, nutririous meals. We also have a riverfront bar, which is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. A large Yoga deck is also under construction at the moment.
Basically we are looking for volunteers who have an interest in organic gardening, building, bar work, reception, front of house or anything else which may be useful. Open to couples and singles.
Other elements on the property include a museum (owned by Michael Tellinger, who is...

This is a Non Profit and Public Benefit Organisation registered in South Africa, located in rural Shongweni halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal.
This farm has been born out of the dream to establish a caring place providing lifelong accommodation and meaningful occupation for mentally disabled adults. The trust was founded in 1994 by parents of intellectually challenged children, recognizing the need for after school services and a stimulating, therapeutic and loving environment.
The outdoor lifestyle offered by the 30 acre farm purchased in 2004, in combination with trained and dedicated staff, ensures meaningful occupation, opportunities for growth and development for every resident. Therapeutic intervention ranges from daily chores in the care for small animals (geese, ducks, pigs, bunnies, guinea pigs, parrots), work in the grounds and the vegetable garden to the care for the nine horses on the farm. Animal assisted therapy and horse assisted the...

My partner and I have a farm in Limpopo, South Africa, on which we have pine and blue gum plantations. Due to my partner's illness, we have radically changed our lifestyle. In order to ensure that the food we eat are not GMO, I am in the process of making our farm self-sustainable.
I am in the process of creating the veg garden for household use. I am using permaculture designs. We have acquired two Nguni cows, and recently a bull, who will start giving milk in approximately a year's time. Currently, we don't have a milking shed, so that is one project that will be done in the near future. It would be great to get about 6 people for the near future (date is now 21 Febuary 2013) to help build the shed. We now also have chickens and will be getting geese soon. They will be free ranging, of course. We've also aquired 2 pigs recently to clear land with.
The afore mentioned activities are mainly to provide sustainable free range/ non-GMO food for the farm and it's occupants. Ot...

We life a simple life in rural Zululand. We can see the coastal dunes and Lake Sibaya from our place. Our site is a budding permaculture site with off grid water and electricity and the beginnings of a permaculture garden is taking shape.
We would like volunteers that can help with gardening, childminding, planting vegetables, picking veg for the meals, cooking and housekeeping, maintaining the wind generator, fixing cars, driving to town to go shopping and general life stuff.
Accommodation is either in the house, or in the caravan or hut.
As of Xmas 2011 we have a baby boy in the house. He is gorgeous and loves the volunteers. We would be interested to host people with kids to see how it would work.
We eat wholesome vegetarian food. (ovo lacto vegetarian)
Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Its been at least two years now that I have been trying to buy this farm. Its a 10 Hectare property near Coleen Glen about 20km from Port Elizabeth. The land is on the base of a south facing hill. The remaining part of the original farm from which other parts have been subdivided over the years. Parts of the house are really old. The farm was first granted to a Mr Kok in 1816. He may have built this house shortly after that. I am still doing some research to find out with certainty.
The farm has some pasture some forest and some wet land. There are two springs and a stream running though the property. The two streams I believe feed the Kragga Kamma river after which the area is named.
My intention is to restore the farm into a mixed farm with indigenous Nguni cattle, boerbok goats and local sheep breeds. I intend to manage the forest and perhaps run a small free range pork operation. I have some experience with pastured poultry. the farm will definitely be suited to this.

Multi-purpose project combining a home and care for people with special needs, specifically the mentally disabled youth and adults. Our organic farm is growing continuously, as is the garden and the home itself...we are always short of helping hands! Ikhaya Loxolo is situated in one of the poorest areas of the Eastern Cape in South Africa, the rural former Transkei. One hour away from Elliotdale, 8 km from the indian ocean and Cwebe Nature Reserve. A chance to see and live within one of the last rural Xhosa Villages! Building season here is from April to September, which is when we are in need of construction-experienced people; there's always something to be built in dry season, whether it may be additions to the farm or houses! We also receive donations of timber each year, and basically create all our furniture, stables, roofs etc. from this wood. So, to all handiman, farmers and carpenters- please lend a hand! Also trained and/or experienced care-givers are welcome, though a...
