Organic/Biodynamic Farming, Yoga instructors, Creative people...

I am currently looking for people with experience in setting up a small farming operation that incorporates biodynamic / organic / permaculture principles. The food will be grown by local villagers on the less touristed side of the Mekong, and then sold (by them) to markets and restaurants. If you have knowledge in this area, please contact me for an interesting opportunity!

I am coordinating a few other projects in and around Luang Prabang that are based out of a very popular restaurant and bar, Utopia. This is a truly beautiful and unique place, and we are looking for some people interested to help with some supporting projects while gaining hands-on experience interacting with the local Lao culture.

We are looking to 'green-up' the facilities, menu, atmosphere, and cultural integration. We have recently introduced morning yoga, and are developing a program to support sustainable grassroots technologies for... more inside

Sabaidee!

We run a hop-on, hop-off adventure bus travel network in Laos and Thailand. Started over 10 years ago in New Zealand, and has recently started operations here. So, we are seeking great people to help promote our brand to like-minded backpackers... and need outgoing, friendly people to do this!

We have a retail shop in Bangkok and Luang Prabang, and also our admin/operations office is here too. We mostly need to spread the word to potential customers, as not many people know about us here yet! There is lots to do, but would be a mixture of talking to people in the shop (telling them about us, and helping them to choose us!), and also in the main hang-outs, like restaurants, bars and the amazing night market here. This would be a few hours each day, in exchange for travel on our Stray network, or blogging.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Sengkeo (Bob) the director of the project was raised in Vang Vieng and lived in Canada for 12 years. He has returned to the town to see a completely different place to the one he left. He then spent some time working with the organic farm, just to the north of the town.
His project is based in Nathong a village 7km west of the town, 500m from the Blue Lagoon (Phoukham cave). The project is offering volunteering spaces where you can stay at the site in a communal style. You can eat traditional Laos food and learn traditional building techniques and farming that are both sustainable and long lasting, you also have the opportunity to teach English to local children and the staff at the project in the evenings Monday through to Thursday.

To all helper as you may know the cost of living in Laos is low and the pay for a day works it very cheap, so for that we won't be able to exchange your work for foods we can only afford your accommodation.
Minimum staying a week, 260,000 kip =... more inside

This organic farm, run by Mr Thi, is a center for a variety of projects that center around the organic production of mulberry trees, along with organic fruits, vegetables, and poultry for the restaurant. The mulberry trees provide leaves to feed to the silk worms, plus mulberry tea, mulberry wine, and mulberry shakes (which are absolutely delicious). In addition, the farm has goats and porkers which are sold on the market for profit. The farm welcomes paying visitors; i.e. staying at the dormitory, the mud houses or the bungalows and eating at the restaurant. The money earned from these paying visitors goes to support wages of the local workers and into various community projects.

The term “volunteers” does not really apply to this farm stay as helpers have to pay for accommodation and food for the duration of their stay. Work is available but one has to be persistent in chasing down Mr Thi to find out about available jobs. If helpers are interested in teaching English, this... more inside
