SO WHAT DO YOU DO?
My wife and I run a couple of small home-based enterprises, chief of which is Rudy’s Ginger Beer, a home-brewed ginger soda distributed in select cafes in Penang as well as at a weekly pop-up market in town. We are also sub-contracted by a café to produce cold-brewed coffees, are retailers and distributors of handwoven bags and baskets made by the Penan, a semi-nomadic tribe from the north of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, and have a tiny smokery operation, producing home-smoked bacon for sale. Amelleia also occasionally bakes, such as brandied fruitcake for Christmas sales, and pineapple jam tarts and cookies for other festive season sales.

We used to run Soohongry, a tiny ‘living room’ cafe and home stay in our old rented shophouse in the heritage enclave of George Town, Penang. We were Airbnb hosts then, and for close to 2 years in o... more inside

We are promoter of Sharing Economy (collaborative consumption) and currently an active place-maker of environment / lifestyle (a cross of home-stay, business center and "hackerspace") that integrates Life-Work balance philosophy and practice, for the benefits of residents / guests / travelers residing in condominium and apartment buildings. We have currently two such properties in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The concept can be applied to all condominium and apartment buildings in towns throughout Malaysia (and hopefully, internationally). This will be a new cultural experience for everyone come into contact with the property ("Collaborative Second Home" or Sociable Home "SOHO")

We are currently seeking temporary helpers (with extensive couchsurfing / traveling experience) to expand and extend our services to residents / guests / travelers / participant-investors. Their inputs would mainly be "talk the walk" while the property is mean to "walk the talk" (Live-Work-Travel-Learn-Play) o... more inside

We are truly a Volunteers Farm because every piece of the farm has been built by volunteers! We started our operations back in July 2013, in a Dragon fruit and Durian farm at the foot of Jugra Hills, then we moved to a 10acre farm in Kuala Selangor from 2014-2016, and as of September 2016, we are located in Janda Baik which is 50km north of Kuala Lumpur (1 hour drive from KL).
Janda Baik is a traditional Malay village in Bentong, Pahang with a rather "Californian weather" (sunny and cool breeze)" and that makes working in the fields very bearable. The temperature ranges from 32C in the afternoon to 18-22C at night. Our Farm is situated in an approximately 3 acre plot of land and it has 1 acre of fresh water pond (water source from the mountains) which we now use for fish rearing with natural feed. Our farm's goal is to become a sustainable, self-sufficient farm and our aspiration is to be an education hub on natural farming, permaculture, aquaponics/vaquaponics, natural constructi... more inside

Hello and welcome to Malaysia!
We are situated in a suburb called Ampang, a small mixed race village (kampung) setting about 8kms from Petronas Twin Towers. Our neighbours comprise of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Indonesians and some aborigine people too. We are well connected and close enough to the city but still far enough to see wild civet cats and hear the crickets at night.

We are a totally new social enterprise concept – think homestay, backpacker's hostel and volunteering residence rolled into one. The house attracts all sorts of people and in the past 4 years we have met some of the most creative, positive, colourful and loving people with the greatest vibe. And that is what we want, a house that is not defined by style or 5 star comfort but made up of every volunteers’ energy. Mi casa su casa. Discipline and respect are the key words here and if you are someone who is lazy and messy and with an attitude, please give this a pass. When you email us, please include these de... more inside

Hey you! Thanks for taking time to view our post.

We are a social enterprise that aims to share progressive ideas with everyone. We reuse waste creatively and we love collaborative production. By using discarded materials, basic electronics and passive building techniques we aim to inspire our surrounding with fresh and fun approaches to sustainable living. Our prototype development center aims to reduce the urban waste problem while being a platform where creativity and awareness can be ignited. Our creations all come from our Open Workshops in Kuala Lumpur. We mostly build art installations and custom furniture, as well as running educational workshops. For more information, please see our website at www.biji-biji.com.

If you would like to get involved with our organisation, we require you to be available for at least one month. Regular working hours would be Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm. We pay a monthly stipend of RM500-1000 depending on your background & skills, instead of offer... more inside
