The idea first came to two friends. Take privately owned land that was meant for commercial use, and return it to nature, while at the same time making it financially viable to do so, and support a team of people who live on site. Basically protecting nature, while yet ensuring financial sustainability. The result was the OurLand Nature Reserve, thailands first privately owned nature reserve, which was setup in late 2015. Currently a small 4 member team lives on site full time, along with volunteers who come stay for short periods.

The reserve covers an area of about 25 acres and is the last wildlife corridoor in the lower half of the Salakphra Wildlife Sanctuary (Kanchanaburi). Located next to an abandoned housing project, the area serves as a corridoor between the government owned wildlife sanctuary and a major river, that animals drink out of at night. Human Elephant Conflict in the area is one of the major issues that OurLand works with local villagers, as areas around the ... more inside

My name is Fai and I run a small language center named Brainstorm and here we teach conversation skills to children that are ages 3-18 years old and adults. We realize the importance of English and having fun while learning. According to the area located in downtown, we have no tourists and very few foreigners. The students have no opportunities to use English in conversation so we love for volunteers to come and help them practice speaking out loud with games and activities while learning new material. Generally, the studentsí level of spoken English is at a beginner level:)

If everybody makes a difference, the world will be different - Owen Geiger

Our Project is located outside a little village in the northeast of Thailand. Well off the beaten track of tourism we offer an opportunity for everybody to join in a fascinating project where we combine vipassana meditation, yoga, natural building and ecological gardening (especially permaculture) to a system of personal growth and care for nature. We want to show that the path inside and sustainable living can be very lively, joyful and fun. We rock the garden!

Our project is deeply rooted in the Thai community, so you can experience an authentic insight into Thai culture and really be part of it. Our teacher is the Abbot of a Monastery in the nearest city and as such, living mindfully and observing the Buddha's teaching is very much at the heart of this project. We have a deep connection with the village monastery and the Buddhist community and enjoy sharing in ceremonies and festivals together. Each... more inside

We are looking for general help around the farm.

Please note we only accept volunteers age 21 up.

Our family has lived on a mountain ridge, running through North Eastern Thailand, for approximately 20+ years. We are about 45 min from Khao Yai National Park. A large campus with two large ponds and plenty of shady trees, perfect for hammocks and quiet book reading.
Things to see around us are small villages, rice and sugar cane fields, farmersí markets, temples and lots of nature. We live close by Khao Yai, one of the largest national parks in Thailand.
You can also swim, fish, or take a short row boat ride on our ponds.

Our family enjoys meeting and working with travelers from all over the world. We work with you for 3 1/2 hours in the morning (cutting grass with weedeater, tending vegetable gardens or coffee grove, cleaning and maintaining sheep pen) and the afternoon you are free to relax, explore or even get some work done on the internet (we have wifi).
