I run private English school for children aged between 10 and 19 years old in a small city in West Sumatra. My goal as the principal of the school is to provide youth from my region with the English skills required to communicate better in the modern world, and therefore provide them with better opportunities in their lives.

I would like to welcome any fluent English speakers under the age of thirty to come assist my teachers in the classroom. You would help immensely by having simple conversations with the students and give them a real English speaking experience inside or outside the classroom.

All the students are very welcoming and curious about my visitors and I am certain that you will have a great experience while interacting with them. You can expect answering all their curious questions, pose for pictures and be invited for lunches, snacks and dinners.

Classes in my school run from 2pm to 6pm and mostly consist of two lessons/classrooms per day. I would also like ... more inside

The Volunteer in Java Programme

The Volunteer In Java Programme was created in 2010 by a small group of English teachers who have been working for several years alongside Native Speakers. The reason that we created this programme is to help the local students and give them the opportunity to learn English with English speaking-people. Cianjur is a non-touristy place with few travellers, so meeting english-speaking people is particularly valued here.
In 2013, The Volunteer in Java Programme was recommended by The Lonely Planet Guide Book. The programme was founded by five locals; the team are enthusiastic and passionate about improving the local studentís English.
The team:
Irwan Kumis, who is fluent in English, has been teaching primary school English for 9 years, as well as working for several years as a guide for Western travellers. He previously worked for a German NGO, Forder-und Interessengemeinschaft, as a volunteer in post-Tsunami Reconstruction and Development on Sab... more inside

I am a physics lecturer in the education faculty of Riau University located in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. I want to prepare my students for the future by helping them to become confident with their communication skills in English. To this aim, l sometime give my physics lessons in English. Oral communication in English is not problematic for me, but I am not comfortable with writing. This is why I asked one of my ex-volunteers to help me with writing my profile and handling written communication.

My students are more enthusiastic about practicing English when they can exchange with foreigners, particularly from outside Asia. Therefore, I am looking for mature and open-minded individuals who can interact with them. The interactions can take the form of presentations about your country, seminars about your domain or expertise (physics and engineering are highly valued), informal discussions, English grammar lessons... The minimum commitment period is two weeks and about 12h/week are exp... more inside

We are situated in a small forest, surrounded by a sea of green that provides a refuge from the heat and the overwhelming city life. We like to surround ourselves with positive people, so we don't mind having a full house of friends and guests from all over the world.
While the north of Yogyakarta is the urban hub of the city, you'll find that the south has a much more relaxed vibe, almost like you're in the country side- but still 15 minutes away from the city center with all the activities. Our village Kasongan is famous for the masterful pottery craftsmenship, but you'll also find anything from leather, batik, weaving and furniture workshops.
First thing you'll notice is the mystical vibe of our place- it's not accidental. About 50 meters from the house you'll find a sacred place- a magical spring between two ancient trees, frequently visited by worshipers of the Javanese faith Kejawen. If you walk in the other direction, you'll discover a small catholic sanctuary inside a cav... more inside

Teachers and teaching assistants wanted for 2017!!

The Bukit Lawang Trust is looking for volunteers with educational experience to teach English and/or help us develop our new conservation education programme.

The Trust has been providing free English lessons to the local community from rural villages in this part of Northern Sumatra since 2011.

We also aim to develop a conservation education programme to provide the local community with knowledge about the importance and protection of the magnificent Gunung Leuser National Park which is on the doorstep of the education centre.
This park is one of the last remaining strongholds for some of Sumatra's critically endangered wildlife such as the Sumatran Orangutan and is under serious threat, predominantly from the palm oil industry.
We feel it is vitally important to develop a conservation education programme not only because the park is in a seriously vulnerable position but also because many of the local people depend ... more inside

BRIEF INTRODUCTION*

Hi! We are a school in Jember which uses Cambridge International Curriculum together with our National Curriculum. Our concern is to enrich the students' knowledge of languages and cultures as well as to improve the human resources (mainly teachers). We have two divisions: Primary and Secondary level. Our students are typically enthusiastic, highly spirit and curious of people and things.

We are welcome to any volunteers who can help us to boost the quality of our school (volunteers with teaching experiences/background is preferable).

We are welcome and very excited to have any volunteer from all over the world (as we had before) and feel free to share about any needed information if you're willing to join.

One more additional information, we have a school holiday in June-July and December-mid January so we are not available in those months.
