I'm a guy in my late 20s, and I bought this property in January of 2013. With the help of friends, couch surfers, and lots of wasteful construction sites I have so far built two small shacks, a chicken coop, a tree house, several raised garden beds, a composting toilet and other things all FOR FREE using building materials found in dumpsters. I have just recently finished obtaining all the permits to build my house, which I have only just started. And I have a big pile of lumber ready to go!

I'm looking for people who want to come be a part of the community here, and help with various projects. There are typically between 3 and 12 people living on the property at a time. Some of us (myself included) have jobs which take up a lot of our time. Not only do we dumpster dive building materials, but also food. If you're not okay with eating this "reclaimed" food, you'll have to buy most of your own food.

There is a pretty good mix of skilled work and unskilled work needed. My mai... more inside

I need simple assistance with either some very simply carpentry work or some assistance with building a garden. In exchange for work once to 3 times a week, I can offer an infinite amount of housing. If you have zero skills and can assist with grabbing tools and giving me advice then I can house you as well. I am not picky. There has been a few people who never did any work due to lack of opportunity, and I was perfectly OK with that. They were still willing to help and that's the biggest part.

About my house. It is still under heavy construction. It needs just about everything. There is currently no plumbing, and electricity will be coming shortly. I'm sure it will be a few short weeks and ill be a very happy man.

I tell all my guests that if you hate my place and want to leave then it wont hurt my feelings. I understand if someone can't live the way I do. Come and stay for a little and see how you like it. I do prefer long term guests than people who stay for short... more inside

Fall fell on us on the Autumnal Equinox in Lacombe, Louisiana with bright, clear, warm days and cool, crisp, starry nights. We are at the height of its aquatic recreation appreciation. Fishing, crabbing, water sking, sailing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, sight seeing, lazing...You can do all that here at an even more amazing place: IDIT'MIHUAI: Indigenous Development Indian Traditional Museum & Heritage University Art Institute. Thanks for your interest. This property is a progressive educational venue utilizing heritage and entertainment to develop an appreciation for the preservation, protection, promotion, and presentation of the environmental, historical, and cultural heritage of the area, in order to pass along this heritage to future generations.

It is an edu-tainment venue based upon a modified Mayan Indian and Choctaw Indian theme. Help is needed for supervised work on projects related to modified Mayan architecture, art, and agronomy.

This is a 10 acre permaculture farm with a big vegetable garden, greenhouse, bees, 1/3 acre pond, and around 250 fruit trees, i.e. heaven on earth. I am a keen observer of nature, and have great love and respect for all. I've been hosting volunteers for 2 years, and have helped to give dozens of positive experiences for volunteers. There is a school bus converted into living quarters to accommodate guests. The work is varied and always fun. I make sure to teach guests all that I can about gardening and permaculture. I'm looking for passionate, positive, motivated helpers looking to learn more about sustainable living. Much love!
