**Currently lining up a few great helpers for spring/summer of 2013**

We have a working horse farm with projects/ work/ chores available for horse related or non-horsey people. We are welcoming and positive hosts who enjoy meeting new people and helping them along the way. It a laid back atmosphere and is a great opportunity to see the area and enjoy nature and a peaceful and productive farm. Travelers, artistic types, carpenters, outdoorsy people, landscapers, anyone with skills or anyone who can learn new ones!

This is a beautiful environment, and is about a 45 minute drive to several interesting artsy and fun towns (Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC). Asheville is well known for its music scene, arts community, and green living. We are also in the heart of the mountains with lots of outdoor activities such as backpacking, hiking, kayaking, and many more. House is built into the mountainside with a fantastic view from the large front porch. It is in a secluded private residential area just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Accommodations are in our home with a private bedroom and half bath downstairs. We are just settling into this property and have many landscaping and garden projects, and light deck railing painting to be done. I work as a part-time teacher and have two children ages 6 and 8. Work would include both landscape projects and occasional child care.

Located on the NC/SC border in the lower coastal plain, 30 miles NW of Myrtle Beach, SC, just outside a small rural town. I own 120+ acres of mixed pine/hardwood forest and fields, and a large 2-story farmhouse--the land has been in our family since 1827. Would like to get it back to the level of self-sufficiency of my great-grandparents' day. The property has a small pond, lots of trails, fruit and nut trees, a dog(Snoddy), friendly barn cats, poultry, lots of wildlife, as well as a zone 8 growing season. Current projects include organic raised bed veg gardening, row crops, mixed flower and herb gardens, exotic plants, reclaimed pallet/bamboo construction, permiculture, remodeling the 1880s farm house, pecan, ... more inside

This is a private horse farm (2 horses) with a fishing lake and a pond, lots of wooded trails and mountains for hiking. Bring your mountain bike, climbing shoes... there's lots to do around here. We are about 15 minute drive from down town Asheville, NC.

We have several projects depending on the time of year, and your interests. Non-horsey projects include: trail building, trimming branches, planting a small garden, painting, weeding, clearing fields, building a rock wall. If you are more interested in horse chores, we have a few things that are horse related, mainly morning and evening feeding and occasional reloading the loft with hay. But the majority of projects are non horse related. Helpers will sometimes work on their own and sometimes work with us or other helpers. Helpers are expected to work 20-25 hours a week.

We have a large kitchen with plenty of cook space and would welcome a helper that would be interested in cooking. Sometimes we do a family style dinner,... more inside

(POSITION NOW FILLED!) CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR...one or two people to come stay beginning around June 12-14 for a few days of acclamation and 'training' before the whole C. Hill crew takes off to a primitive skills gathering from the 19-25th an hour from our homestead. We want someone(s) who is, of course, very responsible. We would be trusting you with our gardens, animals, and land. This is our life, y'all! If you think you can milk a goat or two (and drink the milk!), weed, water, and handle general unexpected things with moderate competence while we are away, you could be the one! You would be staying in the cute little cabin and have access to kitchen and all :) Call us! 828 two zero six 1487

2013 update. Looking for helpers beginning mid May 2013.

Located in Wilkes County, NC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mostly wooded 40 acres with a beautiful stream and pond for swimming. Some land has been cleared for agriculture but this is more of a homesteading experience than strictly agricultural. In addition to gardening this is an opportunity to learn how to drive a tractor, use a chainsaw, build with stone, design and construct a cabin, help install a microhydro electrical system, cooking, canning and freezing, surveying, etc. etc. Your artistic contributions can also go toward covering room and board.

Facilities for visitors vary from; a room in a shared house, rustic living in a 19th century one room schoolhouse, a newly completed (almost) "A" frame tiny house or camping. Short term visitors are welcome with camping available and possible work for meals. Long term folks are asked to work 25 hours/week for room and meals. Total numbers of visitors at a... more inside

We are looking for 1 possibly 2 helpers to assist both at home and at our business for roughly 5 hours per day, five days per week. We own a tanning salon and spa and could use help during the months of mid-February forward, cleaning the tanning beds and the facility. It's a very fun environment. See our website for more information. We are a family of three - our son is in college and we have a spare bedroom with a double bed. We have two lovely dogs and we don't smoke. We live on the edge of a city and can help you out in getting to see the area. Anita speaks French and would like to improve her skills, if that's something you can do. Otherwise, we are happy to welcome anyone who would like to experience our version of the American life. We're friendly and have an active lifestyle. We have wireless internet.

A National Historic Register site, the farm is a remarkably intact collection of ca. 1780-1830's outbuildings clustered around a ca. 1780 log cabin and an 1833 two-story Federal style main house surrounded by expansive lawns, gardens, orchards, pastures, gazebos and ponds located near Zebulon, North Carolina.

Spring projects include rebuilding a historic log cabin, rebuilding an old log tobacco barn, starting the garden and working with the horses and animals.

We have a large garden and a starter orchard, both of which we are considering expanding. A favorite pastime of visitors to the farm is to wander the grounds to visit the latest arrivals, from foals and chicks in the spring to honey bees to stray animals that seem to wander in and find a home on the farm. The farm also hosts champion thoroughbred horses, hunter/jumper horses & ponies, miniature donkeys, Clydesdales, several hives of honey bees, chickens, guineas, free range peacocks, black swan, dogs and cats. Goats and... more inside
