"WOOFING ON THE EDGE OF THE EARTH"

This is a unique chance to live and work on one of the most eastern farms of the world.

Definitely a Must-Do for any kind of traveler.

My variety of things to do is big, like help running a campground as well as the farms, or with a bit of leisure time you can go fishing, or walk along the beach, or walk up the hill to see old Maori Pa sites.

On the farm, we feed and herd the animals, drive the quad and mower, have a lot of other experiences and cook if you like.

So it is everything except boring woofing on the edge of the earth.

Only one requirement is necessary, I expect you to bring a serious working attitude along. Everything else I am keen to teach you.

You will live with me on the farm, enjoying my tasty food and learning basic Maori words.

The best thing, you see THE FIRST SUNRISE IN THE WORLD for FREE while you are staying here.

So come and experience the farm feeling for a few days or weeks or longer if y... more inside

We have 1000 mandarin trees and a large vegetable garden which is under development. We also have an acre that hasn't been developed at all yet. We have hens, geese, ducks 2 dogs and a cat. We are still very much in the planning and development stage with lots of digging, weeding and planting to be done but our aim is that in the next year or so that we will be able to be self sufficient with our vegetables. We eat a predominantly plant based diet :)
We are only a few kms from the town and have 2 bikes that can be used. Gisborne has lovely beaches and great surfing. Eastwoodhill and Rerefalls are lovely attractions to visit.

Permaculture farm pursuing sustainable self-reliance, self-sufficiency and bio-diversity.

Volunteers can learn permaculture principles, how to grow food, how to use energy wisely, how to manage micro-businesses and sell at market. In exchange, dedicated help for 5 hours a day, 1-2 days off per week. Permaculture enthusiasts only please - i'm very picky. There aren't many suitable candidates around so have widened the search to Help X.

Email me for my very detailed full profile you will need to read first, far too long for this site to handle. You need to have a full understanding of the project, what is offered and what is expected before you can officially apply. If you wish to go further i can also provide a link to my social media pages for many photos, videos and explanations to peruse.
I have been hosting for years on other platforms, so previous volunteer references will be made available.

Thanks

We are a married couple in our early thirties with three young children (Emma who is 5 and Ben who is 3 years old and Angus is one year old ) on a family sheep and beef farm, we also grow asparagus in the spring which we take to the local farmers market each Saturday. The location of the farm is approximately 40 minutes from Gisborne.

We are looking for keen and energetic people to come and stay and be a part of our family and partake in our busy daily lives. This would involve spending time with our children, helping around and in the house and garden, getting out and participating on the farm and the asparagus patch.
At this time of year (February and March) our main requirement from helpers is to help with the children, housework and garden ( we are trying to build a large organic vegetable garden) and with farm work.
You would be staying in our home or in our brand new sleepout that has stunning views of the farm, and all meals and transportation will be provided.

Looking to make this trip special? Stay with us and we can help you get the most out of the hidden places that most visitors don't see. We are a couple in our early 60's living in a simple old Bach in the heart of Tolaga Bay township, a place with a rich and diverse culture and strong traditions. Tolaga Bay is the perfect gateway to the East Coast of New Zealand.
Our house is near the beach and the river, about 5 minutes walk away and an easy stroll to the pub, shops and golf club. The sea and the forests nearby supply most of our food, which is supplemented with vegetables and fruits grown in our organic garden. We eat fresh with whatever is in season and land on the table each day.

We renovate and maintain dwellings for a living so we are always busy. Coming last on the list of jobs is our house which does not get looked after as much as we would like. We have started a much needed refurbishment project and we need help around the house and the garden!

We would like to... more inside
