We live on an orchard 12 minutes north of Kerikeri, in the Bay of Islands, growing blueberries. We would love help in the orchard now that the picking season has finished.

We ask our helpers for 4 hours work a day (but not Sundays) in exchange for accommodation and 3 meals a day. Please bring wet weather gear in case it rains. Free Wifi is also available. It is better but not essential for you to have your own car, as we live out of town with no public transport. You will have your own separate accommodation, with a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and laundry.

We offer friendly hospitality, have travelled overseas ourselves, enjoy meeting people from other cultures and sport. We are a Christian family and do not work on Sundays, but ask that you please work 2 hours in exchange for accommodation and organise your own meals. Murray works on the orchard, and Sue teaches English.

Easy work, but would like to have someone with eye for detail. Our lodge is a historic Kauri building situated right on the 90-Mile Beach at Shipwreck Bay, famous for its surf. We are a small Backpacker lodge with 20 beds and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Our guests come here mainly for surfing and to visit Cape Reinga. If you are not into surfing, no problem, its a great place to hang out.

This is a vegan educational center on 454 acres, surrounded by native forest reserve. There are large vegetable gardens, many fruit trees, and pristine rivers to swim in and drink from. The land is under the stewardship of Gentle World, an intentional community and educational organization. Founded on ethical principles, with veganism at its core, this place is a unique learning opportunity as well as a rewarding work experience. Helpers are welcome from mid-Oct through mid-May.

Community tasks are varied, and we ask helpers to become a part of our team while they are here, which means helping out with whatever might be going on during the day, whether that be gardening, painting, cleaning, kitchen work, or anything else that needs doing.

Accommodations are clean, tidy caravans, with access to the communal house, including kitchen and hot shower, and a clean composting toilet.

Come and visit the 'winterless' north! It is sunny and warm (sort of warm, its sunny and I have a very nice fire at night). I have a lovely 3 bedroom cottage in Kawakawa, Bay of Islands. I am looking for a couple or 2 friends, ( I have two spare rooms)to help me in the garden and house work mostly. The work is mainly weeding, some digging, tending chickens, lawns, building a fence, and some assistance in cleaning the house (light housework, nothing too detailed). In return for 4-5 hours a day and days off to explore the area, I will provide a very comfortable bed, plenty of great food and unlimited wifi. I am an easy walk to supermarket, library, post office, shops and cafe. And a short drive to lovely walks, beaches, restaurants and cafes. Must like cats! (and chickens).

We are Maureen and Steve. We have a small hobby farm close to Whangaroa Harbour. We have a cat, chickens and sheep in addition to a large garden, a recently planted orchard and grounds that we are developing. We use sprays and chemicals sparingly. We are also caretakers of a magnificent bush remnant that we have started doing pest control in.

We are looking for helpers to do a variety of tasks on our small holding. These tasks would include working in our organic gardens, small building projects, landscaping, general maintenance work, caring for animals and pest control. Our preference is for couples or independent singles as you may often be working by yourself/ves. We prefer those who can stay for a week minimum.

We have just finished renovating 3 rustic ex Department of Conservation cabins to serve as very comfortable and welcoming accommodation with stunning views of our beautiful bush (see photo). In exchange for 4 hours of your time each day you get to stay in thi... more inside
