Would love some WINTER help: preferably a COUPLE who would be available to stay for almost a week ( 12 to 18 JULY) to assist with some outside garden and inside cleaning work. I will be in CHCH on Thursday 12th, so can offer a ride back to our place and also return trip to CHCH or as far north as Nelson on Wednesday 18th!

Our family lives on a lifestyle property in beautiful Pleasant Valley (just 10kms mountain side of Geraldine). We homeschool our children, with just the younger two boys still at home - aged 16 and 18.

Our property sits in the view of the Four Peaks Mountains, and has trees, creeks, and a spring-fed, home-made swimming pool. We graze sheep on our 12 acre property. We have two home orchards, raspberries as well as a large veggie garden.

We eat largely non- processed wholefoods homecooked meals, fresh veges and fruit. We make our own yoghurt from raw milk and make our own bread.

We also have our own natural swimming pool and camping ground. So you w... more inside

We have a sheep, deer and beef farm. We are a young couple with three young children, so not as much time or hands as we would like! Our house is always busy and noisy, and everyone joins in doing everything. We have a double bed in a comfortable room for our helpers. Its always so busy, some of the jobs to be done are gardening, firewood, picking up branches, tidying around the farm and other farm work also.

Hilary and I live in a 3 bedroom strawbale house which , with the help of family, friends and HelpX we built over 3 day week-ends for three years. The house is on just over 6 hectares and has sheep, goats, honey bees, native tree plantings, an orchard, soft fruits and nut trees.
We grow and make as much of our own food as possible; bread, cakes, pickles, yoghurt and jams are created in the kitchen, vegetables and fruit come out of the garden and meat comes from our animals.
We are looking for Helpx guests who are interested in and want to be involved in sustainable living, creating their own buildings, permaculture, etc. We are happy to help you with this journey. We would love you to have some skills in digging, weeding, building etc.

The house is 16 km west of Geraldine with views to the mountains [the Four Peaks] and the sea.
South Canterbury is great for walking and biking [we have two bikes you can borrow], with lovely nearby native forests and mountains [check out th... more inside

Hi, Our property is located just out of the small town of Geraldine. We have been here a couple of years. With a collection of animals to attend to - sheep, lambs, chickens, bees, a cow and fallow deer - there is always something to be done around here. We have about 3 acres of woodlot, a small stream and pond and a small orchard.

Our property is totally off grid with only solar power and rain water. This means if you like to shower a lot then our place might not be for you :-) We will eventually build our own strawbale house on site - our architect is currently working on the plans and we will look to start building later this year. In the meantime we are living in a very (very!) small shed/garage with our kids. We have a sleepout on site which has a queen size bed to offer. We don't have wifi here but the local library does have free wifi to use (about 10 min drive away). The sleepout has limited solar power to run some LED lights and if its sunny enough to charge phones/table... more inside

17th June

We are currently seeking a couple for one to two weeks to help with setting up our new property.

Hi, we are Lamea and Graeme, a couple in our 40s. We have two small girls, Clara, two, and Elsie Joy, five, who are absolutely lovely and love people staying (but like all children can get tired and grumpy, or call our attention away at times). Because you will live with us as a family, enjoyment of children is very important. They are involved in everything we do, and love to follow around, or ask you to join in games and activities.
Anyone with a Steiner/Waldorf background is especially welcomed here, as we would like to incorporate more of this in our children's lives..

Most of the references below are from our life on a hill farm. We are moving to a new farm in mid June, a flatland farm, and need a couple to come and help us get our new place organised. This means helping set up the calf, hen and quail pens, preparing the vegetable garden for spring, helping ma... more inside

I have only recently moved back to the Farm. I grew up on this farm but has been away for a number of years and things need doing to get it back how I like it.

I spend some time off farm but are flexible about work hours and/or pay. Work will be varied depending on skills but could include gardening, housework, maintenance around the farm, working with sheep or beef cattle or driving tractors. Crops raised include Wheat, Peas, Ryegrass Seed & Vegetable Seed crops. The farm also runs some Sheep & Cattle. Our helpers almost always leave with new skills which often include operating Quad Bikes and Tractors. At certain times of the year I can find paid work for you.

I am easy going & well travelled, I like to enjoy life.I'm also a Couch Surfer host and like to meet people from elsewhere in the world. Interests include Mountain Biking, Fishing, Gardening, Self Sufficiency, Music, Travel, Camping & Hiking.

The farm is close to Ashburton (8km) which has all services. Rivers, Rec... more inside
