We are a busy farming couple looking for help around our house and garden. We live in a scenic area close to the Catlins , Southern Southland(great for people who love walks, rugged coastlines), 70 km drive from Invercargill .We would also like the opportunity to meet overseas tourists and offer typical NZ farm experiences. The farm itself can be an experience for those willing to give anything a go. Many animal experiences.
We would like help with garden , house maintenance , farm tasks and even housekeeping/cooking. Whatever your skills are ?We would appreciate hard workers (4 hours/person/day)in exchange for a comfortable bed and three meals a day (very flexible ).
We farm predominantly sheep but have cows ,dogs, horses ,cats and hens.
It would be preferably if you had your own transport.
Please note we have very poor cell phone coverage and limited internet .

My name is Craig. I'm a children's author and songwriter.

We are located 70km from the nearest shops {Manapori and Te Anau} in the far south western corner of the South Island. It's only a few km from fiordland national park and lake Monowai. 2 hours and 15 mins drive from Queenstown heading south west. Our log cabin has 3 bedrooms, and lots of land. Because it's our holiday home we don't get to look after the land as much as we would like so we need some help to clear the land.

We are willing to supply accommodation (your own room) in our 3 bedroomed log cabin, 3 meals a day and all the local advice for walks etc in your down time in exchange for 4 hours of work per person per day.

Because of it's proximity to Fiordland national park some of the best and secluded walks and treks are located just a few km away. Work is predominately "on the land" clearing weeds and small bush. Lawn mowing,. Things of this nature. Although we may be after some child minding from time to tim... more inside

This is a stud beef cattle property situated near picturesque Winton in Central Southland. The area is renowned for its farming and Torrisdale (the farm) is surrounded by dairy and mixed farming properties. The property is within short travel distances of some of the most talked about 'tourist' locations including Queenstown which is only a 100 minute drive away.
Like on all farms there are things to do. Preparing for/and maintenance of shelter tree plantings, small building and maintenance projects and some gardening are just some of the outdoors jobs that helpers could be involved with plus for those who have some experience, mingling with the cattle is occasionally on the list.
Food and accommodation (own room, shared bathroom) provided. Capped Internet access available. Helpers who are proficient in cooking (for themselves mostly) and putting their hand to the occasional bit of housework would fit well in the routine that is usually in vogue here. If you don't have transpor... more inside

This property is 10 acres with a large character homestead (circa 1929), which was once part of the historic Lynwood Station. The home has many period features, including wood panel wardrobes, bay windows and a number of fire places and two wood burners. Outside there is one large paddock deer fenced, with a well established garden with recently planted natives, orchard, mature specimen trees, a tunnel house, chook house, pig sty and "potentially" a large vegetable garden.

The property is just 9 Km from Te Anau itself(the largest lake in the South Island and second largest in New Zealand) which is the gateway to Fiordland and the majestic Lake Manapouri. The Keplar Track is nearby with other tramps a little further away like the start of the Routeburn and Caples Greenstone tracks at the Divide. The Mavora Lakes are also not that far away, a popular camping spot in the summer. Of course we are on the main High way to Milford.

We have recently purchased the property. We are ... more inside

Welcome to the end of the world! Our spot is an old farm at the foot of a hill, which we are currently transforming into a self sustainable hub for friendly folks to meet up on their travels. Because we have almost no budget, we're trying to use as many recycled building materials and love as possible.

The house is in a pretty rough shape so there's plenty to do! Our main focus at the moment is to produce bricks out used glass bottles so we can expand the indoor space. It gets pretty windy up here! There are hundreds, maybe thousands of glass bottles on the terrain as there is no garbage collection. Therefor we are more or less forced to take recycling very serious.

We're also trying to set up a garden that can feed us, so if that's your thing, please come and get dirty in the mud. We're also building a treehouse... There's a beach right in front of the house. We have a cat altho she's a bit shy until you feed her.

We are especially looking for carpenters, masons, hort... more inside

Hi there! We are a german/nz family with 3 young kids and run a small student hostel and are starting a second organic garden. We are looking for a single person or couple to stay with us to help out with some daily chores, such as cleaning at the hostel, babysitting our 1 year old and dog minding or some help in the garden if that's what you are into. It all depends what you feel like you're good at!
When you stay with us you get to have your own lockable room with queen bed or single bed, free and unlimited Wi-Fi and laundry use. You get to stay in the student accommodation so you will not be living in the same house as us, although we are living right next door.
You will only have to help 5 days a week for up to 3 hours at a time (depends if you are a couple or single).
Meals are not provided, however you have full use of a kitchen at anytime.
We expect you to be mature and trustworthy.

Previous helpers have been from the US, Europe and Asia and we always look forward to ... more inside

Farm is at Blackmount RD 2, Otautau 9682, Rapid Number 2491 on the Blackmount/Redcliffs Road.
Sometimes help is required at farm for general farmwork. There is no landline, although there is limited cellphone or internet connection at the farmhouse but there is phone access for emergencies at the manager's house.

Sometimes a person is required for outside section work at the Te Anau home and odd inside work.

Prefer people who don't have dietary restrictions (e.g. vegan or vegetarian) and who are over 30 years approx. Expectation is that 4 hours work per day (flexibility on blocking work to have freedays) is completed in exchange for accommodation and meals.
Previous helpers have made us realise that if they have their own transport it makes it easier to go sightseeing etc on their time off. It is not essential but provides more freedom to explore our wonderful scenery.

Preference will be given to helpers with a genuine interest in learning about NZ dairy farming and animal husbandry. We love sharing what we do and prefer to host helpers with a desire to learn.

300 cow family run dairy farm close to the Southern Scenic Route, between Invercargill and the Caitlins.
We offer a family environment with opportunities for farm work, housework, gardening and cooking. There is a wide variety of work available. Working with the animals of course, weed control, plus fencing work, painting, carpentry and lots of different small tasks to complete. If outdoor work doesn't appeal, help in the house with cooking and cleaning is always appreciated, and the small, developing garden offers a third alternative. We try to fit the work to each helper's skills and interests, and keep things varied and interesting.

We have 3 children who are mostly grown and away doing their own thing, but come home occasionally.

Looking for helpers who can fit in as part of t... more inside
