(Also have a second hand yurt to build but a couple of bits need fixing first)

We live on a beautiful farm near Ullapool in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by hills by a sea loch and with a lively village seven miles away. Accommodation is usually a mobile home with a shower and heating, adjacent to the farmhouse but warmer arrangements are made in the winter. We farm sheep and cows, and help is needed with feeding them, fencing, basic joinery and general farm work as well as drivng, and sometimes helping with the NHS hindcull, which is an amazing experience. Helpxes generally enjoy themselves and we have enjoyed having them. The highland experience is very unique, the people interesting and friendly. There will be an experienced supervisor and the next door farms have volunteers too who will socialise with those helping here in the local village which has live music. We find helpxes of 25 upwards most suitable and those who like the outdoor life and are strong fit, responsible and eager to learn new skills enjoy themselves the most.Lambing Calving is com... more inside

We moved onto the land in April 2017. It was uninhabited for many years, so needs lots of tlc to bring it back into productive use.

We are working towards an organic small holding with livestock, large garden, tree nursery and workshop. We are off grid with basic facilities - the help-xers will have their own caravan, use of compost toilet with bucket showers. We will have shared meals (mostly vegetarian). We run a small wood working business from the site and are happy to share our skills with help-exers where possible. Tasks will be varied and include help around the land everything from the garden, to building projects, to sorting and clearing land and the remaining debris.

We have two dogs, chickens and a small baby. Our land is about 14 miles from John O'Groats and is in a beautiful part of Scotland - excellent places to explore nearby and a good place to see this amazing part of the world!

READ ALL OF THIS PLEASE.
If you come here and we find out you have no clue about anything, you might be asked to leave again. So, please, READ THIS. We will know if you didnít.

MINIMUM STAY: four weeks.

WHAT WE NEED
At the moment we need people with basic construction and/or woodwork skills as we need to build new bird aviaries, and some dog kennels. If you have NO such skills, and NO animal experience at all, please do not apply.

Three very important points:

1. Animals come first. Always. If you have a bad attitude, or the animals are scared of you, then you will not work with them. We LOVE our animals. You, on the other hand, we donít even know yet. So, we and the animals first need to see what kind of person and worker you are. If you have your own animals, you will understand this.

2. We are not a language school. You need to be able to understand and speak English well enough to understand our instructions.

3. If you need company every evening, then thi... more inside
