Over the last dozen years with a lot of help from people from HelpX.net we have turned this place from an neglected piece of land to a really neat farm. This season we will be raising chickens, a couple of pigs and a couple of beef cattle plus a large organic garden and a small orchid. We also plan to spend a lot of time this summer working on trails and clearing land. Since 2005 we have had a total of 45+ people come and stay with us. Some come for as little as a week and others came for the season. Several helpers have even come back year after year. Located in the rolling hills of Prince Edward Island Canada this 150 acre farm has been certified organic. To date we have restored the original farmhouse and built or restored eight out-buildings, including a machine shop, Garage, pigionier(it's a long story) and a several barns, planted large garden and small orchard, made a large pond and cleared some trials in woods. Check out our website for pictures and information. Lots of wo... more inside

We will not be requiring any help now until May of 2018. But please keep us in mind if you will be looking near that time.
We are a semi-retired couple, Merrill and Martha, living in a small town just outside Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We live in a small duplex, having moved last year from a very large estate home in the country.
We are seasoned HelpX hosts (16 helpers so far) and very much enjoy meeting new people and sharing experiences. We are well-educated, well-traveled and have a broad world view. We are lacto-ovo vegetarian (but not the annoying kind!) and we have two cats.
A valid driver’s license would be very helpful. Also, for everyone’s peace of mind, we ask that our guest be insured with work/travel insurance. House is equipped with WiFi.
If you are a creative, energetic, outgoing person who is seeking a unique experience in one of Canada’s most beautiful locations, please be in touch! We are located in the middle of PEI so all points east an... more inside

We have a simple but modern homestead in the beautiful wooded hills of central PEI.
We can use help with household chores, small organic vegetable and flower gardens, cutting and splitting firewood, wood trail maintenance, home construction and renovation projects, home maintenance, wood lot maintenance, organizing nails and screws and other hardware, painting, staining and many other small tasks.
We have 'out the back door' access to great hiking and skiing trails and canoeing. And we're close to the South Shore beaches and lovely villages (everything's pretty close on PEI). We love and sometimes organize singalongs and community dances.
Fragrance free zone!

We are a small family farm nestled in the rolling hills of Queens county 5 minutes from Cavendish PEI. Our quiet and secluded property has its own creek/trout pond for fishing or swimming on hot days. The closest local beach is an easy bike ride away. We raise sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. We operate a CSA, an on-farm meat store and offer tours of the farm during the summer. We would love some help with the daily farm and household duties. A second floor bedroom and private bath await your arrival and there are bicycles for exploring the surrounding countryside and a canoe for exploring the local rivers. Hello!

I am a writer and cheesemonger (at the Farmers' Market), 34, living in picturesque rural Prince Edward Island.

I have a small acreage (around 12 acres total) and old farmhouse . The property is divided into several acres around the house, a woodlot of around 4 acres, and a large five-acre field in the back which my father is currently developing into a Canadian English landscape garden. I am focusing more on the edibles, but come at it from a gardener's perspective so aesthetics and ornamentals are a huge part of my plans, too!

There's not a lot currently on site, so I have a lot of projects in mind this year year, including:

- putting in a root cellar into the basement
- fencing
- building a duck pond
- building chicken and duck houses
- building cold frames
- extensive vegetable, fruit, and cut flower gardens
- working on a greenhouse
- painting various buildings
- redoing the inside of the workshop to be a nice sitting area for helpers/guests

That... more inside
