We live on 81 acres of beautiful Nova Scotia forest and field. We have 36 Alaskan huskies and 4 rotties we brought across country, from Yukon. In Yukon we raced dogs for the past number of years and hope to return to race, in the future.

Your farm experience here will include assisting Deb with the dogs and Jonathan with various building and clearing jobs. There will be daily kennel cleaning and watering and feeding of the dogs. As the weather is starting to cool down we are slowly getting the dogs out for more training runs. You can be part of this as we will teach you what is involved.
Our 4 rotties are very friendly and live with us in the house along with our newest family members Jake and BamBam. These boys are Padenco's from a rescue in Spain. So you must love dogs to enjoy your stay here.
Our land needs some trail clearing done as we are also starting a Dog Sled business.
We are also planning on reforesting our massive, grassy front lawn, in Sept. and there will... more inside

I've been hosting for a while now and have met many lovely people from overseas and locals. there are things such as maintenance and other fairly repetitive tasks like preparing produce, lawn-mowing and spring cleaning.
Accommodation is comfortable and things are kept in order; this just makes it easier for newcomers to find things & put them back. "Keep things together", "Put things back" & "Make things accessible" are our 3 golden rules.

I have a separate living area, but will regard you as part of the household and will usually combine meals & outings around the city and allow you a chance to do some sightseeing.
This is an urban city-farm that is intensively cultivated, 10 klms south of Halifax; walking and cycling distance from major retailers and convenient transport.

The garden is well established now; mainly fruit trees, veges, herbs, nuts and chickens. I'm committed to organic permaculture and am still learning. Work is 5~6 hours p/day with two days p/week off... I... more inside

Fall'17 Update: We are looking for someone to stay in our second house for the winter. It has a wood stove, kitchen, shower and one bedroom. We have lots of projects on the go for the winter and would love some extra help harvesting greens from our hoop houses, helping repair the barn floor, starting seedlings and more.

We welcome people to come work and learn with us for long and short stays. We produce organic vegetables and pastrured eggs for a two hundred share CSA, farmer's market and for wholesale accounts. Helping new and aspiring farmers to learn new skills is a priority for us.

We have been donating significant amounts of food to our church for seven years.

We are dedicated Christians that are committed to respecting all people. There is a lot of laughter and good times here, but it is not a place to party with drugs and alcohol.

We need help - hard-working happy people urgently needed to help with gardens (both decorative and produce), along with some events, programs, etc. It's an amazing community and you can be part of making it even better!

We have a magnificent arts centre based on 75 hectares of fields and forest overlooking the Bay of Fundy, only 20 minutes from Wolfville and 80 minutes from Halifax. In winter, we need help with light construction projects, and assisting with some of our community programs. Spring, summer and fall, we need help with the arts projects and with the large gardens, and with the kitchen.

It is an amazing place, and when open programs are available, we invite our volunteers to take part in great arts programs (when available)!

Also looking for cooks, people to help with ushering for the theatre, etc. In the summer, we require a police check to live on site because of the number of children in camp (available from your home or university police station easily).... more inside

This is a cross between a homestay and a farmstay- it's a hobby farm with a summer vegetable garden and some livestock. I try to produce as much of my own food as I can on the farm, and the long-term goal is to make the place as self-sufficient as possible. I am constantly working on improving and expanding the farm, as well as doing repairs and renovations as needed. The farm is currently a one-woman show, so it takes a lot of time and effort to stay on top of the work.

Current livestock consists of a small flock of chickens, a few ducks and some quail. This is also the home of the local guinea pig rescue, so there's a varying number of cavies in the house at any given time. There are also 2 small and friendly (though noisy) dogs and 2 cats. If you have allergies, be prepared to bring your medications! There is a guest room available for the helpers, which can be kept pet-free if necessary.

The house/farm is a 20 minute drive from Dartmouth and Halifax. Public transit is av... more inside
