My partner (Russell) and I have created a large subtropical garden surrounding our home built over a small lake 500 metres from Matapouri Bay. The property also has a plant nursery attached.
Since Russell's recent death, there are parts of the nursery and grounds that I am looking to get help with to maintain. Mostly weeding pots in the nursery, but also assisting me with clearing scrub, chainsawing and digging. Most of the tasks would require a bit of muscle, so a basic level of fitness would be required.
I am looking for 4 hours of help a day in exchange for accommodation and meals. We can decide how we might like to arrange your time and I am open to flexibility.
So drop me a line if you want to explore this beautiful part of NZ, based in a garden setting.

We are a family of three with a 5 year old girl and are vegetarians (not vegan). We try to lead a reasonably healthy existence - we maintain a chemical free home as far as possible & this extends to the use of personal "care" products, cleaning products & food. We ensure the food we eat is at least spray-free, preferably organic, we don't use a microwave oven and mostly use whole foods and only small amounts of refined foods. This is a no smoking property.

Sophia, an acupuncturist, works in town from Tuesday - Saturday as well as practising acupuncture from home while David mostly works on the property.

This property grows macadamias & olives along with various fruit trees for home use. In autumn of 2018 a lot more banana plants will be planted as a group of us plan on starting a banana industry in NZ. There is a vegetable garden as well as 8 chickens. There are 3 mobile lawnmowers on the property (sheep).

Tasks include, but is not limited to, weeding & helping in the ve... more inside

Hi there

We are looking for someone with building skills to help us finish our large 1920s villa. Most of the work is done, but we need help with gibbing, plastering and painting a couple of rooms.

We have fantastic views of Bream bay, set on 20 acres with a dog, cat, chickens and two horses. We have an organic vege garden and small orchard. We are off grid with two fireplaces and solar powered power system. We are 10 minutes from Waipu township and the beautiful beaches of Bream Bay. Waipu has fantastic cafes and resturants, stores and gift shops. Whangarei is approximately half hour drive if you require retail therapy. There are many awesome spots to visit here, waterfalls, fishing, golf and surfing are popular outdoor activities.

We do not have wifi at the house but it is available for free in Waipu. All meals will be vegetarian. We grow hot chillis and garlic so most meals are tasty and spicy!

You will have your own large double room with a sunny window box and deck.

Hi all,

Busy beekeeper looking for an extra hand with some tasks. Mostly inside shed work to do with preparation of bee hive equipment. This will mostly be waxing bee frames or assembling bee boxes etc. On occasions if wanted it will also be possible to help out on the bee sites out in some beautiful natural New Zealand spots checking hives, honey or queen bee rearing.

You should not be allergic to bees. It is unlikely to get a bee sting as safety gear is provided (if looking through bee hives or working with the bees) but there is always the chance.

Relaxed friendly environment the house is home to four other young (25-30) active people , you will need to be willing to do a minimum of 3 hours a day in exchange for a room and facilities food can be provided but you may need to prepare yourself depending on my work schedule.

We've got some zippy events we need help with over Easter - need some helpers with cafe experience and a good grasp of English. Lots of gardening work too.
We're a couple living on a small lifestyle block on the edge of the cute town Waipu, five minutes drive from the beautiful Bream Bay beach and Waipu Cove surf beach. There is always gardening to do and walking the dog, feeding the pigs etc. We also have a coffee / ice-cream mobile cafe called Zippys which sometimes we need additional help with. I'm also a DJ at the local radio station, Radio Waves of Waipu, it's always fun for helpers to do a radio show with me, Wednesday nights 7 to 9. We have high speed unlimited data allowance Wifi. We've now brought a caravan for helpers to stay in and have their own space.

We are a family of four (including two boys aged 6 & 8), living on our family farm, situated on the south side of the Whangarei Harbour. The farm has been in the family for at least 140 years. We currently farm sheep and cattle, along with two alpacas, four ducks and some hens! We are not organic but are starting to practise biological / regenerative farming methods. We have plans to diversify, which include building a harbourside walkway, replanting an old orchard with citrus and subtropical fruit, improving our olive grove and planting some more land in NZ natives. We are currently working on some farm-stay accommodation and are continuing with our traditional farm activities, including seasonal jobs such as shearing sheep and haymaking. We are also working on adding value to our coarse wool, by making rugs and other products.

Work depends on time of year, but includes gardening and weeding, general farm work, sometimes building maintenance eg painting, tree planting and ... more inside
