Lorraine's horses are her main focus

Lorraine also has two very friendly dogs - Boy (dalmatian) and Hetty (Doberman x Staffy).

She welcomes helpers who have experience with horses and can exercise youngsters and older horses. Special consideration is given to those who have owned their own horses in the past.

Some assistance with gardening, painting, fencing, farm work, tidying, etc. may also be appreciated - any helper should be able to carry out tasks with minimum supervision :)

Lorraine can accommodate helpers who do not have their own transport. Arrangements can be made to collect from the local station etc.

Lorraine's property, Woodstock Stud is within 5 mins drive of the Wallan station (Vline Train services almost an hourly service into Melbourne) the journey takes 45 mins to the city. Easy access to the freeway too.

Lorraine's property is located near to the Mount Disappointment State Forest in Victoria which is in easy riding access (via quiet roads) for ... more inside

This idyllic 6 hectare hobby farm is located along a creek valley in the foothills of the Dandenong ranges.
Along the creek border is a flora and fauna reserve of more than 100 hectares full of wildlife, complete with walking trails, all accessible from the farm.
Kangaroos and wombats visit every day as do a myriad of native birds such as cockatoos and parrots.
Volunteers can help 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, in a range of tasks including domestic duties, animal care (horses and dogs) and farm work. Contributing to the daily chores of meal preparation, cleaning up after meals is in addition to the farm work. Think of it as being part of the family where you participate and share the chores.
The reward is the special Aussie experience that is on offer. Unique Australian wildlife in a completely natural setting, a warm cosy home and all only an hour and a half from Melbourne by train.

Gerda & Eric Helpx,
We have an acreage of land set amongst farmland (mostly grain farming) in Bannockburn which is approximately 90km from Melbourne. The closest city is Geelong, which is 20km away. Bannockburn can be reached by bus from Geelong. We are close to The Great Ocean road, Bells Beach & quaint coastal villages.

A little bit about ourselves: we are a retired couple who have lived in Victoria for the past 10 years. We moved here from Queensland to be closer to our grandchildren. Our daughter & son in law are on the farm and we are close by to help out with the children. Eric has a sailboat (which you will no doubt will be going out on in Geelong Bay) he was a boat builder when we lived in France and now uses those skills to do DIY projects around the house. I (Gerda) enjoy spending my time in the garden, looking after my grandchildren & travelling around the world.

We recently enjoyed the company of 4 helpex’es to help us with our garden. As we have moved in 12 mo... more inside

Booked January and February

Please read our reviews from helpers! We enjoy the cultural exchange and have made many wonderful friends over the years.

Our historic property ( 1912 ) operates a Bed and Breakfast cottage and a small blueberry farm. Our blueberries were one of the first planted commercially in 1982.We are a small boutique blueberry farm. We have really enjoyed all our Helpers over the years.

Most work will be outside, helping with our bluebeery harvest and stuff that just needs to be done like cleaning cars etc. Help indoors really helps us get on with our work maybe general household chores on cold or wet days. There will be opportunities to go to Farmers Markets with us.
If you like to cook, perhaps you might like to cook a meal or too.

In return for your help, we provide full board and lodging so all meals and accommodation. You will have most afternoons to explore the regions and we ensure you get days off too.

Must like being outdoors. You ... more inside

My farm is a very scenic hill farm with great views of native forest and out to the ocean. I grow organic vegetables, herbs and fruit and farm sheep. There is also an old established garden in need of renovation. There are lots of old established trees around the property. There is abundant birdlife and koalas, wallabies and echidnas can be seen from time to time. I need help with gardening, clearing blackberry, establishing new garden areas, preserving produce, firewood and general maintenance eg painting, repairing fences and removing old fences etc. There is sometimes some sheepwork.
There is a good variety of tasks depending on the season and skills of the helpers.Work hours will vary depending on the task.
Accommodation is a comfortable self-contained caravan close to the main house with a Kitchenette, heating/cooling, DVD player, radio etc. Breakfast provisions are provided in the caravan and lunch and dinner is in the house with me. Currently looking for Helpers

Prefer Helpers over 25 ( non smokers )

Hi my name is Anthony and I live in Red Hill which is located on the Mornington Penninsula just over an hour (by road) from Melbourne. Rolling hills dotted with vineyards and surrounded by the sea, this region is one of Melbournian's most popular "weekend getaway" destinations.

Wake up to the singing birds in a log cabin set amongst the tree tops, borded by an organic apple orchard and fringed by forest. Home to friendly and colourful native bird life and visited by a family of cheeky possums each night. Lovely walks to restaurants, markets and our general store.

I have too many projects to handle by myself as I care for my 9 year old most weekends and some nights during the week.

The projects are varied and include; clearing vegetation, maintaining the organic vegetable garden, planting native trees and shrubs, splitting wood (by machine), building a wood fired oven, setting up chicken coup, pai... more inside
