Come and join us on our organic, off-grid smallholding in 2017

We are James and Sukamala, we run an off-grid, low-impact farming project established in north Devon, England.

Our salad leaf business is well under way for the new season as crops have been overwintering in the polytunnel. Our 5 pigs have gone for meat and we have a freezer full. (Gloucester Old Spot crosses) and our 10 sheep (Shetlands) have all had lambs in april.as of august 2017 we now have four new Oxford sandy and black piglets. We will keep one for breeding with and the others will go for meat.

We are looking for someone (friends and couples
Are fine too) to help out on our smallholding for the 2017 season with our established salad and veg business and to help with livestock and practical building and maintenance jobs. Most work/exchange requests will be considered but generally we are looking for weeks at a time or the rest of the season if you want to stay a longer time. In exchange for 4 days work a... more inside

We are a busy, free-hold pub with brewery in a small village beside the coast in North Devon. We serve real ales, home-made food, and run regular music nights, games night and discussion groups. We are busy with holiday-makers and residents alike, and the pub is an important part of the community here.
Depending on the length of stay, volunteers might find themselves working in the garden with general maintenance and tending to our raised beds; assisting in the kitchen; helping service run smoothly during lunchtime and evening sessions; or possibly working behind the bar (depending on experience). The nature and duration of the work varies depending on how busy we are; generally we ask for 4-6 hours per day, and sometimes shifts are split between lunch and evening. We are happy to provide days off where possible, but please be aware that weekends are our busy times.
Meals are generally provided from the pub kitchen, though we can easily cater for most diets.

I can take a couple or 2 single people from late October.

We will be starting our Autumn planting, clearing up the site and growing vegetables for sale in our community. This is an exciting time of year to volunteer, as there is still much to be done to get ready for winter.

I am in chemotherapy for the foreseeable future and have to pay attention to my energy levels. I am therefore eager to have additional help to ensure the project stays on target and that the house and dogs are well looked after.

This lovely part of Cornwall is very beautiful at this time of year and there is much to see.

We are a community garden in a large village in S.E. Cornwall on the edge of Bodmin Moor. We have volunteer sessions with community members twice a week and you would be a key part of that team. You would help to deliver weekly veg boxes to local homes.

The work here involves maintaining the garden, cultivating crops, working in the poly-tunnels, packing veg boxes, helping with h... more inside

We live in a beautiful and peaceful 30 acre smallholding, up the hill from Penzance, and overlooking St Michael's Mount. We have planted hundreds of trees, and are trying to provide a secure wildlife habitat. We have created a magical pathway through our woods and down past our stream, and this needs ongoing care. At this time of year, we need help with a variety of tasks, from strimming and brush cutting, to collecting and preparing firewood. The large garden is always in need of weeding and pruning. Cooking and cleaning are always a welcome addition, as a bit of contrast with the heavier work outside. We have a couple of bicycles for use if anyone is interested. Penzance is only a 25 minute walk, and a 10 minute cycle, mostly downhill! We live in a large house which is very spacious, and the accommodation is very comfortable.
We are currently looking for help during June. Please get in touch if you are a reasonably independent-spirited couple, energetic, and enjoy relaxing as we... more inside

Our 17th century farmhouse is home to Piers, Sue, three young people aged 17-21 (two are away at university), two house cats and a small, very friendly dog. Our optimum stay length is two or three weeks and we have vacancies in Spring 2018.

We offer helpxers comfortable accommodation in a prime tourist area, excellent food and a genuine welcome, in return for seriously hard work.

We are within sight of the sea in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shingle beaches to walk to and steep-sided sandy coves easily reachable by bike (although the roads are hilly!). South Devon is an enormously popular tourist destination from Easter to October, when it earns its reputation as the sunniest part of England.

We moved here six years ago and have established a multi-award-winning business running stylish, comfortable self-catering holiday cottages. We live on site in the main farmhouse, where we accommodate helpxers in two bedrooms that share a bathroom. You will have you... more inside
