**we are not currently taking anymore helpxers. it may still be possible though to visit the area, and potentially work later in the spring when there is more work. thank you for you interest**

This place is a lot of things. It is first and foremost a property of 25 hectares. On this property there is the chateau, dating back to 1706. There are annexes around it dating from before that, used for housing, festivities and storage. then there is the park. The park is, in my opinion, a world of its own. It has pastures, where cows and donkeys munch around, woods, with some really nice trees, an (unfortunately decrepit) chinese pavilion, and a garden. The garden is where I primarily work. I focus on eco-contruction, gardening based around permaculture principles, and a medicinal garden in an old greenhouse.

All of these ask for a huge amount of attention and care. I myself am a recently graduated bachelor of science, taking a year off to work on projects here. I live in the main... more inside

Hey! I am half-way building my own 36' steel sail yacht (10,8 m). The steel work will be finished by the end of this year, after which it's time to create the wooden interior. Cupboards, kitchenette, bench, table... the lot. Therefore, I would be grateful for carpenters or other boat-builders!
The boat project takes place in my back yard and you'll be staying in my adjoining house (with a view).
Things to do and see around Assenede: walking; cycling to the coast, Zeeland in Holland, Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp... As eating and drinking equals Belgian culture you'll get you're share of mussels, chocolate, chips and Belgian beers. We speak French as well. Most welcome!

Hello,

we're a married couple 30 and 31 years old. We live in a little village called Herenthout in Belgium. We have a lot of work in our garden and we could use some help with this.

We've been helpxers ourself in new zealand and portugal last year and before that we were hosts to a couple of helpers also. Now were back home for a while and our garden is now a bit to wild. So we can use some help again.

In exchange for food, shelter, shower and drinks we expect you to work +- 4 hours a day. You can stay with us in our home and have your own room. We can cook vegetarian if you want but we're not vegetarians ourselfs. We both work full time so you will be on your own during the day. If you've got allergies, watch out because we have got a cat and chickens.

You can use our bikes to get around when were not home an we can pick you up at the trainstation in Herentals or Heist op den Berg. In our village everyting is close to our home: supermarkets, pubs, snackbars, busst... more inside

We are located in one of the most urbanized areas of the world: Flanders, Belgium. 50% of Flanders is concrete. Our mission is to renaturalize these ecological wastelands. We turn grey into Green! If you want to give us a helping hand on this mission, we welcome you with open arms... We grow our food organically, small scale, we try to live as self sufficient as possible, we are vegetarians. We speak Dutch, French and English. We are a young couple. We started our organization only 5 years ago and we are in full development. At this moment we mostly set up ecological food forests, green roofs and wildlife gardens in the neighbourhood and make our own house step-by-step more self-sustaining. Final goal is to live completely off grid in this urbanised environment.
We frequently do experimental building/gardening workshops in and around our house as well as on other places.
As a volunteer you can help us with the these workshops and the preparation of it, as well as with everyday lif... more inside

HAY!

! UPDATE - got some helpers in novermber so it's fully booked for now!

I'm Christophe! I got a regular Belgia house in Halle, south of brussels, let's say 15 by train from Brussels center. There's the garden (50 x 5m) to take care of and the house who needs a good refresh! Most jobs in wintertime will be inside. Summertimes rather invites to do the outside jobs of course

Outside it's all organic & ' starting' permaculture so jobs like trimming weed, seeding, harvesting, composting etc are quiet common. I try to be self-sufficient for veggies as much as possible, still a beginning so... it could be also possible you need be make jams or so but let your immagination go I would say! Also I plan to make a Finnish sauna outside and maybe later a bigger pool with local vegetation & maybe more other thing , all depending... on your / my creativity at that time

Inside it's a renovation story, painting, carpeting, stukadoor etc expierence are really welcome, no more scary jobs... more inside

Hello helpers,

I am looking for someone who can help me with our bed and breakfast in center of Brussels while we are gone for holidays. All you need to do is keep the bed and breakfast clean, receive the guests, tell them the directions and informations of our city, provide recommendations of activities or restaurants. In general, you will still have a lot of free times here so that you can explore the city or maybe learn French. :)

Please write me an email if you are interested. :)
Cheers from Belgium.
Albee
