** OVER CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR **
We already have a full house during Christmas so can't take HelpX til after New Years Eve, sorry!

Helpxers with tool skills will be helpful mid Jan, late Feb, while we build a balcony. We will post more info soon - or ask about dates you have in mind to be in the area.

** ABOUT MONT SAUVATAGE **
Craig's house is built out of recycled everything, and by helping us finish small building jobs you'll get to learn a lot about recycling and DIY, while enjoying the magic of the Blue Mountains NSW.

It uses salvaged timbers, tyres, and has lots of mudbrick and great fun features (like rock climbing walls). Although Craig designed the house to fit on a 10x10m footprint, it is 2.5 stories and there are enough bedrooms to have 4 or more people stay (couples are welcome!).

Craig has been building this awesome house since 2008, and its 90% finished BUT the last four years have been tricky... lots of travel to support a growing small business, compli... more inside

ABOUT US
We are a fun-loving family, and have our kids (13 & 16) with us half the time. You’ll be staying with an artist/writer, and an architect/builder, who are well-travelled with a broad range of interests. We're looking for cultural exchange and having fun together. The most important thing is that you leave with a smile, and an Australian family experience. When time permits, we like going bush and showing visitors our favourite secret places away from the tourist trail.

LOCATION
Our home is a large “mountains cottage” on Shipley Plateau, just outside of Blackheath village in the beautiful Blue Mountains. Close to bushwalks, rock-climbing crags, and down the road from the spectacular Hargraves and Mount Blackheath escarpment lookouts. We are a 5 minute drive, or ˝ hour walk, from Blackheath cafes and shops. Within driving distance are opportunities for: canyoning & abseiling; water skiing; swimming holes; Katoomba, the Three Sisters & Scenic World; galleries; horseriding;... more inside

My 23 hectares is 90km north west of Sydney in the glorious Hawkesbury sandstone country. The valley has abundant birds and wildlife with wallabies, possums, goannas, snakes, lyre and bower birds, all highly visible, and even the odd Koala visiting in the Spring.
Accommodation is a separate self contained cabin and yurt.
I have solar power and composting toilets.
Satellite television and Internet available.
I am mainly vegetarian however some fish and occasionally organic chicken.
There is always plenty of stuff to do on my small holding however the work is not heavy, and as we work together it is fun!
I have been a WWOOF host since 1997 and I very much enjoy meeting new people and sharing skills.
I prefer people over the age of 25, love HelpXers with skills and I prefer 2 people.
I am a keen rider and welcome horse capable helpers.

We are a family of 4 living in a funky home located less than 1 km flat walk to Avalon Beach and the lively but relaxed holiday destination of Avalon Village on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. A little over 1 km in the other direction are the calm waters and bays of Pittwater.(see aerial photo below...the red ring is where we are.) It takes an hour and a bit on the bus from the centre of Sydney city.

We are looking for a couple to help us for 1 week or so from the 12th to about the 21st of December 2016,during the hectic pre-christmas time, in preparing our house for AirBnB visitors.

Jobs involve cleaning inside and out, washing, gardening, oiling wood, mowing lawn, cooking and other odd jobs.

In exchange for 4 hours work per person each day, we would provide food(when guests eat at our place) and a a double-bed room adjacent to bathroom.
