We have a large 100 year-old family home in 1.7 acres which we share with lodgers, small dog and cat and Mother-in-Law. There is an orchard, polytunnel, veggy garden and several run-down outbuildings and projects! We are keen on making and doing whatever we can for ourselves. Nigel is an active skip-watcher and scavenger, so much firewood and building material ends up in landfill it makes us sad! We have solar panels for electricity and hot water and a small off grid power station which runs on waste veg oil when I can get any..... This summer (2013) we would really like to make it a priority to rebuild our ancient, but lovely, brick and timber greenhouse so folks with good carpentry or building skills would be useful. There will be plenty to keep non-building types busy too, ... Big hedge to trim, maintenance of veg garden, weeding (sorry!), painting of ramshackle sheds, fruit to pick and wine to be made! There is loads of outdoor living space here and accommodation would be in th...

HELP NOT REQUIRED ......
My husband and I are a relaxed informal family who live in a 5 bed terraced house in Southfields with our 3 boys ages 2-7 yrs. We are planning to move to the countryside in August and need our house painted and tarted up so we thought HelpX was the ideal solution. We are looking for 1 or 2 people (if sharing) . Skills needed are painting/ and decorating in exchange for lodging and an evening meal we require 20 hrs each a week this can be split to suit your needs.A good sense of humour and child friendly would be an added bonus!

I am offering bed and board to someone, or a couple, who would like to come to England and live with my family to improve their English, or to learn our culture. I have three large dogs that need exercise or care if I am away, 5 children - but only 2 still live at home, two cats and guinea pigs. I have a vegetable garden which needs care, and a large garden which needs maintenance. Our house is in a small Lincolnshire village, just 5 miles from the sea. I can offer a double bedroom and use of all facilities, including a rather dilapidated tennis court. There are many people with horses here, who would like help, or friends who have a small holding.

We are yurt builders located on the idyllic Welsh border between Shropshire and Wales. Our cottage is located high on a hillside of Clun Valley with stunning views, an iron age hillfort nearby and miles of walking/cycling routes.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals or couples who want to learn carpentry and green wood working skills to help us build our sustainable yurts and gers. We also sew all our own canvases and have a sewing workshop in a barn just down the road.
We are a young sociable couple who can offer you friendly company, your own room in the cottage or a yurt outside, good food and the opportunity to learn the craft of yurt making.
We also have a small organic vegetable garden we are managing and are also trying to sensitively renovate our lovely stone cottage if these skills are of interest. The more hands the better!

Hi there, from the idyllic countryside halfway between Malvern and Worcester - a lovely area for walking. There is a bus into both towns (about 5 miles each way). Worcester has a cathedral and Malvern has antique shops. Looking forward to hearing from you. James and Lola (and Polly the dog) and hoping to have a few chickens soon!
We are in the process of extending our home, but have had to halt the building work due to finances. We got as far as moving the garage and reinforcing the hill behind the property and thus the outside grounds now look like a building site with piles of MOT / bricks / rubble etc.
In the interim we are starting up a B&B and thus desperately need to get the outside looking more presentable, so ideally need physically strong people, in the first instance.
We are looking for someone, or preferably a couple, to come for as much or little time as you can spare to help us out with our very long and varied list of things that need sorting, depending on wh...

Our riverside home is located in South Devon, near the coast. We have a Victorian terraced garden that needs restoring, a riverside fruit garden, woodland and veggies and 2 puppies! The jobs include plenty of gardening, collecting and stacking wood, weeding, tidying, walking the dogs and helping out around the house. We would like to use the skills you come with, whether that might be building, sewing, cooking, gardening etc. We are a family with 3 children that have just returned from a round the world adventure! You will get to live in a beautiful self contained cabin by the river and on the edge of our woods. It has all facilities, bathroom w...

We have recently moved into a beautiful listed building in Tideswell in the centre of the Peak District National Park with our 2 children (3 and 5)
We would like 1 person (2 possible if a couple) to help with general DIY and decorating (painting / sanding etc) and gardening. People with plastering / carpentry experience particularly welcome! You will have your own bedroom and bathroom and will be expected to work for 4-5 hours a day 5 days a week.
Some meals will be provided if you eat with the family otherwise you can use our kitchen to fend for yourself. Tideswell has a couple of shops, four pubs, two cafes and library and is surrounded by fantastic climbing, running, walking and cycling. We can lend you a bike or a bouldering mat and have wifi.
