We live in the midst of the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy in an ex-dairy farm. We've renovated several of the buildings and we're still working on our house. Mainly we're looking for someone to help take care of garden, grounds, possibly to help with renovation projects. If you've got building skills, that's a real plus. You might also be asked to walk the dogs or cook a meal or clean. We're pretty flexible and hope you will be too. We are rural, so it's best if you have your own vehicle. It would be really good to have a couple or a pair of friends.

You'll have a 2-bedroom nicely-renovated cottage to stay in. It has wi-fi and TV and is very comfortable. There's a kitchen in the cottage, so you can cook for yourself or you can eat/cook with us. I am a teacher and my husband is "retired," which means he is working full-time on our project. We have a son who is studying agriculture, and a passel of animals.

We are a couple who are experienced gite owner managers now renovating a small fishing cottage just 500 metres from Lake Guerledan. You will be staying not far away at our gite complex in South Morbihan in a superb location. You can either work one day on one day off, or 3 days on 4 days off. This is a great opportunity for the right person or 2 people. If you're a couple one of you can take it a bit easier simply tending the grounds with Sally while the other would help Irvin at the separate cottage. Looking for people with previous general build work experience. You could be a carpenter, bricklayer or plasterer, or know how to plasterboard out (see upstairs photo ready for boarding out) It's not a difficult job, but quite time consuming as it'll be tricky scribing some of the panels.... or be competent in one or more of those disciplines.. One of you may be a keen gardener?

From April to October we generally dine outside and you're more than welcome to join us, or cook for yo... more inside

We are an anglo-french couple building an ecological (straw bale and earth and straw) house for our family in the foothills of the Pyrenees. We live in an 'eco-hamlet' of five houses, at the moment we are currently living in a barn space which we built ourselves, learning the techniques we are now using to build the house. We have been hosting large groups of helpers over several years and it has been an enriching experience all round. This year we will be needing help to do the last coat of rendering interior and exterior, and the floors (a mix of earth lime and cow dung). We are hoping to move into the house before the end of the year. This project provides an apprenticeship in low cost building techniques, and beautiful countryside to explore in your time off. We expect 5 hours work a day in exchange for meals and accommodation (caravan, tipi, outdoor shower, compost toilet). There a places to put up tents or park vans. Our ideal helpers have a genuine desire to learn about ecobu... more inside

LAST MINUTE OPPORTUNITY - SEPTEMBER 2016

Come and help us out in quiet, rural France, doing some traditional roofing work preparation, general labouring, odd jobs, maybe a bit of gardening and helping us to finish a small cob house with a living roof.

We live in central France, in Creuse, which is one of the most beautiful and quietest parts of France. It's perfect if you like peace and solitude. Creuse is the main farming region of France and we're surrounded by rolling countryside and farm animals.

Dotted around are swimming lakes, the occasional park, chateaux and natural attractions. It's all about nature and tranquility here.

Here is our nearest village with some local point sof interest - http://www.tourismeboussac.fr/en/index.html

.............................

The work

We're renovating an old barn, to be converted into a house, and we're also in the middle of building a small cob cottage next to it. We need to get the main work done before Winter hits, so... more inside
