Hello Helpxers,

I am living in one of the most places in Ireland. That place is Dingle in County Kerry on the wild Atlantic way. Many Helpers have enjoyed their stay here over the past 10 years, each one with a skill to offer that I myself would not have. We have had wonderful days and nights together and all remain close to me.

The house is in the heart of Dingle town. Literally a stones throw from good Irish music pubs, restaurants and of course minutes from the sea. You will have plenty of time to yourself and I hope you can work on your own initiative. You will have your own room, wifi, bike, meals, Netflix, and great company.

We run a Self catering houses rental business on Bere Island in West Cork.
Our website www.bereislandholidayhomes.com gives a good picture of our business.
We need helpers to help us with the maintenance of our homes [mainly painting and landscaping]during our off season - 3/1/2018 to 23/3/2018.
On line marketing skills would be very useful as we need help with promoting our website and using social media.
We also keep a few sheep and helpers could help feed them.
I am also a beekeeper and would be happy to share the experience of beekeeping with anyone interested in learning the skills of beekeeping.
We will make one of our rental houses available on a self catering basis for the use of helpers in return for 20 hours work per week. We can be flexible on the way the hours are distributed during the week. We are open to discuss any other options. Bere Island is very quiet at this time of year so it might be suitable for a couple or friends.

We will be looking for help in the spring, March on words. Building dry stone walls around the garden. We would be happy to teach helpers how it's done, the traditional way, laying some slabs and helping in the garden with weeding, planting and that kind of thing. Or indoor painting and decorating if it's raining. We live on the west coast of Ireland in an old farm house which we renovated. There is fantastic surf, close to the see. Beautiful walks and five minutes from our little village .The house is warm and comfortable with a double bed room with it's own bathroom and private living room, suitable for a couple. Food plays an important role in our life. We love to cook, grow our own vegetables and raise a lot of our own meat or get it locally from organic and free range farmers. We are on the main road on the bus route to all the nearest towns. We hope helpers might stay a week or so.

Special Note for anyone concerned by CO2 emissions from air travel and would consider travelling to Ireland by land:

Getting to Ireland by bus, train and ferry can be expensive and time consuming but if you're willing to consider doing so then I'd like to help with your train/ferry/bus tickets to get you to my farm. Sound good? :-) Please contact me in advance of booking your tickets.

Hi!

We're a family with two young children (Hazel -April 2010 and Serena - April 2013), living in East Clare.

I studied IT but came back to work on our family farm in 1999.
I am very interested in ecology, especially in bats, badgers and red squirrels. In August I carry out a yearly Daubenton's bat survey. (It's also around the time of year we check and clean the bat and bird boxes.)

General Note:
If you stay with us we will doing some gardening, general farm work and buildings maintenance during summer, but mostly woodland activities: maintaining a young woodland area ( shaping, p... more inside

We have a tourist hostel near Arvagh which is in Co. Cavan and is a beautiful lake district. We are trying to develop this business as well as develop our garden and try to grow as much of our own food as possible.Skills in carpentry would be really useful to build a tree house as well as usual maintenance jobs to be done. We need help in both the house/hostel and garden. We have a donkey so if you can help with teaching him to pull a cart them that would be fantastic. Anybody skilled in boat repair would be especially welcome so that we can enjoy the local lakes. Good helpers who like housework, getting the lunch ready other volunteers, keeping the place properly clean and making hostel beds, doing laundry etc also welcome. There are 365 lakes of Cavan. It's a very scenic and underdeveloped part of Ireland and you have 2 days off each week to explore.

We are a fun loving family of three (we should say five as our two dogs are part of it as well) living in an old farmhouse outside the village of Collooney adjacent to Markree Castle estate.

Close to the North West coast with spectacular beaches some of them famous surf spots, mountain ranges for hillwalking and plenty of rivers and lakes
.On the other hand Sligo Town is only 10 minutes by car or there is a train and bus service(main Dublin to Sligo line) and which has all necessary facilities (shops, pubs, theatre etc.)

Sligo is a well known place for traditional music and is home to trad-band Dervish.

We established our organic vegetable garden four years ago and we try to increase the size bit by bit every year. We have fifteen chicken and two ducks at present.

We took a break from Helpx for the last few years but we are hosting again! Surrounded by sea, lakes & mountains our mixed farm is in sync with nature and the seasons. Farming activities mostly with the sheep & ponies & working sheep dogs. We can host more than one helper at a time.
We provide very good food & accommodation in fair exchange for help.
Our farm awakens in the morning and we spend the day coming and going, to-ing and fro-ing, meeting the needs of our animals and general what-needs-to-be-done-tasks. Please be aware of the actual rough and tumble of living and being on a real life living animal farm...manual work...outdoors...sometimes wet...etc
(If anyone has some experience training ponies we would especially love to have you here. Our ponies are gentle and easily broken.)
In New Year we will plant trees and hedges on the farm and also repair stone walls and an old stone ruin on the farm. We welcome helpxers to stay for couple of weeks or couple of months. We als... more inside
