Goetz and I have migrated to Australia 19 years ago from Germany. After 15 years in Sydney we moved up to this beautiful part of Australia. We live on a ¾ acre block of land together with our dog, cat, lots of birds, sometimes Koalas in a small village called Federal in the hinterland of Byron Bay. We are keen travellers ourselves and we love sharing our house with young travellers, who have a willingness and commitment to contribute to a positive experience of shared living.
We are looking for 1-2 helper(s) around the house and garden in exchange for free accommodation and food. You will have your own room with attached bathroom.
You will be doing garden work, cleaning, cooking, etc. Sometimes there might be simple repairs and painting, it will depend on your skills as well. We ask you to work the equivalent of 4 hours per day. Hours are flexible, if you have your own transport you can do 4hrs per day, if you depend on public transport you are better off to work 3 full days and ... more inside

We are Jon and Liz.

We have a small farm on the Hastings River at Wauchope, near Port Macquarie on the mid north coast of NSW.

Our business is producing silage (feed for cattle and horses). We grow Lucerne, Plantain, Chicory, Clovers, Pea and Millet. We aim to become organic and biodynamic certified.

We are improving our property by planting native trees along the road and fruit trees around our sheds. We are establishing picnic areas along the riverfront and repairing the buildings.

The farm is bordered by deep riverfront on two sides. We have a variety of watercraft; canoes, paddle-ski, wind-surfer, small sailing boats, tinnies, and a large comfortable ‘mother-ship’. In your time off, you could fish, use the boats, enjoy barbecues on the shore or our 'mother ship' or just walk/run along the riverbank. The river is truly beautiful here and you often have it to yourself.

If you have experience or willingness in any of the following areas, you will be a help t... more inside

We are after 3hrs/day of pruning, planting, irrigation maintenance, weeding and general garden advice. We can provide you a fully self contained one bedroom flat in the inner south of Canberra.
