We farm 300 hectares of medium to steep hill country, 25 kms north of Taumarunui (closest shopping center), running sheep, cattle and deer. We have a 30 year old rambling 2 hectare (approx.) garden that always requires some work and this is where volunteers will spend most of their work time. While not fully organic, chemicals are avoided especially in the vegetable garden. We are located right at the western end of the Pureora Timber Trail, one of the better known cycle trails in the central NI. We are an hour from Whakapapa Ski Field on Mt Ruapehu & the Tongariro Crossing, an hour from the southern end of lake Taupo, 20 minutes from the Whanganui River in Taumarunui, and an hour from the Waitomo Caves. Own transport is an advantage.
We have young adult children who have flown the nest. We enjoy meeting new and interesting people of all ages.

We are looking for helpers to assist with maintenance and odd jobs around the gardens and grounds of our Lodge. You will need to be fit and able as work includes using chainsaw, mowing lawns, leaf blowing, painting, operating light machinery etc. You must be able to work largely unsupervised for up to 6 hours a day 5 days a week.

In exchange for work we will provide accommodation in one of our lodge Chalets on a twin shared basis, Continental breakfast (to be prepared yourself) and a cooked evening meal each night.

This is a chance to live and work in one of New Zealands iconic Fishing villages. Well known for its fly fishing on the Tongariro River, Turangi Tongariro is a popular place to stay for those planning on hitting the slopes at nearby Whakapapa skifield as it is only a 35 minute drive.

People also seek out Turangi Tongariro for its mountain biking, rafting, kayaking and golfing endeavours and use it as a base to walk the spectacular Tongariro Alpine Crossing, locat... more inside

Hello,
We are a dairy farming couple who live ten minutes north of Taupo on the Rotorua road. We are looking for some helpx travellers to come and help us with general house work, gardening, cooking and some farm work if needed.
We are looking for people who are experienced in gardening and will use their initiative around the home to help out.

We have 2 spare double bedrooms with your own bathroom, and will give you 3 meals a day - in return for this we would require 4.5hrs work a day.

As we live ten minutes out of town your own transport would be required.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Tim and I have 3 children of whom are mainly away at boarding school and University. We have a large garden and would like help to keep on top of it. I would also appreciate some help with housework as we both work full time in our own business which leaves little time for all the "other stuff", though the gardens do take priority.

We're easy going and both travelled extensively in our 'youth' so certainly appreciate what backpacking is all about.

We live close to town, 10 minutes walk, and the beautiful lake and would have two bedrooms available at most times.

Our property is located 10 kms out of beautiful Taupo and 5 minutes from Kinlock, Wayne is a senior member and whips for the local hunt club and also works with young horses, we also run a small number of cattle along with having chooks and a few sheep. And rear calves in the spring. Here we also have a hair and beauty salon so have people coming and going, and have 2 toy poodles that own the place ??. We would ideally like to host someone who likes horse riding and is able to exercise the horses but not accentual so must love all animals as well as general horse duties, gardening, maintenance and house work. Also sometimes helping with the evening meal when Denise is working late. If a true horse person you are welcome to ride one of the horses at the hunts. a maximum amount of hours work a day would be 4-5 but we are flexible as we realise there is many attractions you may want to see while here.Own transport would be preferred but we are happy to run you into town when needed. ... more inside
