The hillside property of Treflach Farm has been in the family since 1904. For the majority of this time the farm was a traditional dairy farm reliant on petrochemical fertilisers, feed supplements and red diesel. In August 2006 I (Ian) returned from working abroad to start a new business on the farm to prove small scale agriculture can be environmentally aware, promote biodiversity and remain viable in a difficult and competitive market such as food production.

Today Treflach Farm:
Operates an on farm butchery and bakery
Is an employer both on the farm outside Oswestry, Shropshire where we look after the land, animals, run courses & make pies, and in Hatfield, Herts for delivering into London and the SE
Is a real working farm with free range animals
Distributes chilled food products on behalf of national award winning chefs & food producers

The proceeds from these activities are re-invested by a Community Interest Company providing horticultural therapy projects ... more inside

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with gardening work on an estate where we try to live in a sustainable way. The work is varied and involves teamwork. It also offers an opportunity to learn about permaculture and growing fruit, flowers and vegetables in a kitchen garden, a herb garden and an orchard. We also need help in keeping livestock (chickens, sheep and goats), and with maintaining a fly fishing river. Other jobs include logging, mowing and all other areas of gardening, plus buildings maintenance and decorating at times if that suits you.

If you want to learn or improve your English this will be a good opportunity as you will be working with an English-speaking team.

We provide all your food (including our own organic produce) and accommodation sharing a house with other volunteers, but you will need to cook for yourselves. We live on the edge of a busy little market town, so we have the best of town and country to enjoy and you can borrow a car or... more inside

Mick and I live in an area close to Liverpool ,Chester and Manchester. We have a horse and 4 dogs and there are always small jobs which I need help with such as fencing ,gardening and general land maintenance .We grow our own vegetables too. My partner keeps vintage cars and sometimes needs help with them we use them throughout the summer so sometimes we will be able to take you out in one. We live in a very old house with not much heating so preferably we don't have people from November till April .Some of the work may be painting ,general maintenance etc The land has got out of control a bit this summer so theres a lot of wood chopping ,grass cutting and bonfires to do we usually suggest working for 5/6 hours one day with the next day off for sightseeing. We never ask anyone to do anything we would not do ourselves .We have space for anyone with a camper van. Wales and the Lake District are all within easy reach . You will have your own comfortable room we have wi fi .We provi... more inside

Hi - I own and run a schools hatching programme using eggs from my champion rare breed hens. The youngsters come back to my 6 acre smallholding with fabulous views on the northern edge of Sheffield and the Peak District. I run this with my three children aged 19, 17 and 10. We also have rare breed sheep and goats, three horses, three dogs, two cats and two turkeys - so lots of interesting animals! You will need to love animals here!

I would like someone who is used to animals and wishes to learn more about their husbandry. I have work daily looking after the livestock, building fences, gardening, and some decorating and restoration in our period 5 bedroom house that looks over the land.

We have buses (not many!) that go past the house so access to Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Barnsley are all possible. The closest train station is Penistone less than ten mins in the car away.

The room is a big double bedroom with a lovely view over the valley. There would be shared use ... more inside

Please read this carefully so that I'm able to offer you what you need. This is a lovely area to visit.
Please email initially.

We're offering two options!
Firstly, we have a lovely Victorian rural cottage, in the middle of Kent, on top of a hill, which is in the process of being improved and decorated throughout. It has beautiful views, a large private garden, and everything you need to have a comfortable stay. There's a sunny kitchen, a clean living room, new clean carpets, a large bathroom, and easy parking. We provide the food or a budget for you to choose what you want for yourself. The cottage is surrounded by classic English farmland, with many pretty footpaths, and traditional pubs within easy walking distance.
(It doesn't have any more than basic furniture, or wifi (wifi can be accessed at many local places, and you can also come to our home for wifi which is a 30 minute drive)

In return for staying here we ask that you tend the garden. These gardening tasks includ... more inside

We welcome helpers for 1 to 2 weeks, maybe longer during July/August for a couple or 2 friends only. We are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, 5 miles from the sea in a rural hamlet - 10 miles east of Exeter. Hi Helpxers,

Below is an explanation of what I am looking for:

Help to run a VERY small guest-house: c.3 hours work per day per Helpxer (c.20 hours per week).

The above includes:

Checking guests in and out: Cleaning and preparing bedrooms. Keeping the kitchen, bathrooms and television lounge clean and tidy. Gardening and general maintenance in both the guest-house and at my nearby properties.

I also occasionally need help with weeding/cleaning at my rather derelict properties in north Wales, c.85 miles from Manchester.

At the moment I advertise rooms in Stretford, Manchester, on Airbnb and Sparerooms, and I need some help caring for the house and for my guests.

My home is c.2.5 miles from Manchester City Centre. We are close to 3 Metrolink stations and regular buses run to the city centre: A Day Ticket, offering unlimited travel around Greater Manchester on Stagecoach buses, costs 4.

Please do not send me a Helpx request more than 3 to 4 week... more inside
