Looking for help. We live on a finca in the hills of the Alpujarra. No buildings just yurts. We live pretty cut off from civilization but we do go to town every week. The land has mainly olive and almond and fig trees but we are expanding.

On offer:

you can have (a smallish) yurt all to yourself.
spring water on tap
spectacular views,
all the almonds and olives you can eat.
Enjoy the company of cats and chickens,… and soon there will be a few goats.
a bit of electricity from the solar panels: enough to charge laptops, phones, batteries and use the occasional blender
a bit of fast but expensive wifi

We need help with:

sawing wood: by hand or chainsaw
picking almonds
picking olives
pruning trees
gardening
preparing new gardening beds (filtering soil: muscle work!)
preserving fruits, veg and nuts
installing a fire bath
cutting steps into the hill
looking after goats, chickens, cats
cooking good food
cleaning (or something like that)
coming up with ... more inside

I have been restoring the beautiful old water mill I bought here in Spain 7 years ago. Doing almost all the work completely by myself.

I need some help, a) to be motivated, it's been a long time since I started now and b) to complete a few projects and finish the place so I can rent the house while I go and fly for Aid Organisations.

To know more about me probably best to check out my couchsurfing profile via my blog link above.

See my website link above for photos of my place - they need updating. These photos are not organised, and the mill has progressed a lot since they were taken.

A couple of projects I have in mind are, demolishing and rebuilding a tool shed, lift the floor in the mill room, install underfloor heating and put it down again, decorating, sorting out the outside of the mill, rebuilding a couple of walls and tidying up more than anything.

I finally have my commercial pilots licence and I'm looking for work in the aid sector. If I can I go flying on... more inside

HELPX!- We've taken a long break from our labours but are now ready to get back to improving and maintaining our old house in the campo. We've recently experienced a horrendous tormenta with hailstones the size of tennis balls which have caused serious damage to our home and property. Repairs to the roof(s) is due to be started soon and will be undertaken by skilled roofers. However there are many other tasks to do, especially rendering the outside walls. So if you have rendering/plastering skills we would love to hear from you!. We're also planning to concrete the area in front of our house, which will entail a large amount of heavy physical work, breaking down infill, compacting and levelling prior to the actual concreting. This will be a seriously demanding task and we reckon it would only be suitable for those of fit and robust condition. We have previously benefited from helpxers who each made their own inimitable contribution to our progress, showing what could be done with ... more inside

We are an English couple with a 6 month old baby recently relocated to the Alpujarras and working towards self-sustainability. We have approx 32,000m2 land with lots of potential, and want to expand our small but very productive organic fruit and vegetable garden, as well as exploring livestock options. We also have lots of fruit and nut trees including cherry, apple, pear, damson, fig, olive, persimmon, walnut, almond, and grape vines. We are off-grid and rely on solar power for electricity and springs/snow-melt for water.

Located at 1300m altitude on the edge of the Sierra Nevada national park we have spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Morocco, and our very own ancient threshing circle (an "era"). There are plenty of great walking routes in the surrounding forests, and we are just a few km away from the famous Buddhist retreat centre O Sel Ling, which is well worth a visit. If you're keen on climbing there are some decent bolted crags just half an hour away.
