Small holding with award winning gardens located in the Marais National Park on the Cotentin Peninsular. The farmhouse dates from 1706 but is believed to be on the site of a much earlier monastic farm. This is a peaceful rural retreat in an unspoilt part of Manche, Normandie, France, within ten minutes by car of the pretty market town of Coutances and about 18km from idyllic unspoilt beaches. The regions hosts over 1 million visitors each year for the D-Day beaches, Bayeaux Tapestry and the beautiful island of Mont St Michel. (Approx 2hrs 40mins by TGV from Paris -nearest ferry port is Cherbourg, nearest airport Caripiquet, Caen.) In the summer we operate as holiday accommodation. We require help mostly in the gardens and potager, and some light housework and maintenance. We can offer a friendly environment, pleasant accommodation and good quality food, eating with the family, using locally sourced produce, supplemented by our own organic eggs and vegetables. We are unable to meet... more inside

We are an English family, who moved to Normandy in August 2013. We bought a farm in Saint -Lo in December 2014, and are in the process of renovating this from an old dairy farm, into a first class Showjumping competition yard for our team of Showjumping horses.
We have approximately 25 horses, some for breeding and some for competition, and our business involves the breeding, production, competition and and sales of top class competition horses. We have a lovely property with 12 hectares of land, and various outbuildings, including a newly furnished 2 bedroom gite (apartment) and main house. We are both in our thirties, and have an 11 year old daughter, Hannah, as well as 3 small ( very friendly) dogs.We are extremely open with regards the work options available. We would be happy to have upto 3 or 4 people at once, although they would have to share the 2 bedroom gite, so would ideally be a couple or friends. Single travellers are also welcome. There are so many different jobs avai... more inside

Location .

We live in a village near Vire (Calvados ), in Basse Normandy . It is well placed for main motorways and about 1 1/4 hrs from the main ferry ports of Caen / Cherbourg / Le Harve and St Malo . Beautiful beaches and charming seaside town Granville are 45mins drive , Mont St Michel and the D-Day beaches and Bayeaux ( tapestry ) about an hour away . Vire has a good main line train service to Paris and airports at Rennes and Dinard are about 1 1/2 hrs away .

The House .

We are curently in the process of renovating a 'Maison de Maitre'and would guess we are some 70% through the work . We would welcome any assistance in finishing the house and in return for work would offer full board - all meals etc and continuous supply of wine and beer if required , although it might be a good idea for most of it to be drunk after work .

The work .

All sorts really , the usual stuff from general light labouring outside, decorating / painting and general DIY inside to so... more inside

We need help with the tranformation of outhouses into usable spaces, painting and decorating and garden creation. There is free use of the telephone to landlines and Wi-fi internet and bicycles. Working hours would be 3-5 per day, negotiable.

Living with my 3 children : Raphaël(9) and my twins girls Sarah&Susan(2), you 'll have your own bedroom and share the house also with the cat. Located in the nice green suburb of Saint-lô (20 000 people) the main city of the county, we have all the public transport (bus, train) and riding distance to go anywhere in Saint-lô with my bike. It's a nice and quiet place to live : 30 mn from the coast with wide beaches, nice river and interesting history : specially second world war. I work part time in the public Library of the town and will appreciate english speaking at home since the twins are bilingual (french-englih). If you can babysit sometimes while I'm at work it will be nice. I need to feel confident to let my children under the responsability of my helper. I'm expecting a cultural exchange with an independant and educated person ready to share a familly atmosphere. bye
