Hello, my name is Margaret, an English hostess who needs help mainly with ground clearance and general DIY.

My home is an old farm house still needing quite a lot of work. I am in the process of installing a kitchen and toilet in the integral cow shed. The upstairs bathroom is functional.

The house is set in approx 2 acres of land which has been sadly neglected over the last couple of years allowing the bracken to spread extensively.

Help is required to cut back the bracken, initially in the orchard, and with DIY in the house, pricipally finishing the kitchen floor, the re-organisation of the plumbing and installation of a replacement kitchen sink.

I also have a country cottage, some ten miles away, which needs finishing touches and work in the overgrown garden. There is an adjacent cottage requiring complete renovation with a totally overgrown neglected garden. (I am not currently offering accommodation at this address)

I am an amateur musician, having sung... more inside

We run a small-holding with accommodation on our farm, and have been resident in this beautiful part of Normandy for over 7 years. We have ponies sheep and other animals, as well as an organic vegetable garden, so work would include garden maintenance, working with the animals and general helping out around the farm.

our season runs from March to November, but we have renovation and building projects outside of these dates. We are located by the coast (10 minutes), beautiful sandy beaches with very few people. We have rooms in our house, or one of the gites on site if available.

Lots to do and see including the granite coast, d-day landing sites and the mont st. Michael. Not a lot of nightlife, would suit country and animal lovers.

We have bikes and possible vehicle use, why not drop us a line?

Cheers

Wil and Amanda

My wife and me are looking for a couple to help us with building works on a farmhouse and other tasks on the property. We also have our grand daughter staying with us from time to time, who is 15 months old and it would be good to have help with this also, so couples with young children of their own would be welcome, but obviously we would have to take up references regarding this.
Our property is set in lovely countryside with handy local village shops etc. close by. We are converting a barn into a house that is about half completed and would like help with the rest of it, both inside and out. Helpers are welcome to stay for a few weeks or a few months.
I am a carpenter and joiner by trade, but have spent the last thirty four years in Construction Management. I also have other building skills that could be shared with helpers who wish to learn.
We have all the plant and machinery to carry out our work including Mini Digger, Tractor, 4x4, Tipper Truck and woodworking machinery. ... more inside

We are no longer accepting volunteers for 2013.

We believe that life is about adventures and so after one too many episodes of Grand Designs and a glass of wine or two we moved to France in 2008 to live in a caravan and renovate a cottage. These days we live in the cottage and are expanding our horizons by learning to grow and rear our own food and manage our 7 acres.

We are a British couple (40 and 45) and share our life with Rufus the Alaskan Malamute, Oscar the cat and a menagerie of chickens, ducks, rabbits and pigs.

You can get involved with the animals (please note that we rear our poultry, rabbits and pigs for the table) and a load of other jobs ranging from general land management such as strimming, mowing and logging, gardening and helping with the veggie patch and some interesting projects like building a bridge across the stream. This year the focus is on the garden, creating a new veggie patch and a permanent eating area for the clay oven that we built last su... more inside

We are a British couple who divide our time between the UK and our delightful home in Lower Normandy (Basse Normandie). We think the house (it's really a fairly substantial cottage!) was originally built in 1837 as part of a farm, but it has been entirely reconstructed within the last few years - highly insulated, central heating etc. We are about 1 mile from the village proper and our nearest neighbours are seven or eight cows who munch their way through a next-door field. We are right in the middle of the Normandy battlegrounds of the Second World War, there's a British Military Cemetary in the village. It's just under an hour to Bayeux, a bit longer to Mont St Michel. Paris is a 2 1/2 hour train ride away from our local big town (Vire).

Particularly in early September 2013 we need some help with the maintenance and development of the land and house. Diana wields a mean paintbrush and is Head Gardener, I (Kevin) am pretty handy around the place, and act as deputy-chief-assistan... more inside

We live in the midst of the rural Mayenne region, surrounded by beautiful scenery, rolling fields and dairy farms, but are still within easy reach of towns, villages and larger cities like Laval and Rennes.

Outside we have about an acre of land, consisting of a vegetable garden, from which we are pretty self-sufficient, an orchard which provides our fruit and is the home for our mixed flock of birds who provide our eggs(chickens, duck, guinea fowl and geese) and the rest of the land is lawns and flower gardens.

We have ongoing jobs of painting, chopping wood, clearing parts of the garden, building flower beds and general garden duties, most of which will be quite physical, and I am sure will take us right through the summer months.

Whilst we are not vegetarian ourselves, we can provide vegetarian meals.

We have good wi-fi access, but not very good mobile phone reception.

Please contact us if you are interested.

Lovely old manor house with moat, lake, chickens, six cats and seven springer spaniels - oh and two humans. We could really use your building skills and general work inside and out around the property. Stay in a relaxed atmosphere in an en-suite bedroom with good cooking and an interesting area to explore.

A beautiful chateau overlooking a national park that is run by Paul & Zoe who have 2 children aged 15 & 11 years. We have a large gite which sleeps 8 people, 2 gypsy caravans and a camp site for 25 tents. We always need help to set up the camp site pre-season so jobs include alot of cleaning, gardening, mowing, fence repairing, caring for animals - the list goes on and on.

We would prefer a couple who have initiative and good work ethics. The accommodation provided is in the chateau. You would have your own bedroom and a shared bathroom with our son. We love to eat and always prepare fresh food every day. People who eat everything are welcomed!

Our nearest train station is 12km away and the direct line to Paris which is 2hours. We have bikes to go exploring on.

30 hours a week which can be taken to suit the couples needs. We have had lots of people help us over the years which has always been a positive experience and we really look forward to welcoming new people to our h... more inside
