Host 46891

In the heart of Victoria's Central Goldfield Tourist region, offering good healthy food, and board, for 25hrs a week of farm work and property maintenance.

This position is only for animal lovers and self sustainable independent and tidy individuals. NON SMOKERS ONLY, with competent English skills. Dr Quick is looking for a helper who is highly motivated, thoughtful and helpful. You need your own transport for your personal use as this place is in the country with nearest public transport 4km away.

Taradale is only an hours drive from Melbourne in a beautiful area of central Victoria. There are gorgeous views from all around the property and from the house. We are fully booked until end of May 2018. Located in Melbourne's Southern eastern suburbs, only 1 hour by train to Melbourne CBD. We have a hobby farm with cows, sheep, goats, alpacas, dogs, and cats. We are happy to accommodate a couple or 2 friends travelling together. Helper accommodation is a self contained cottage (recently renovated) fully equipped with everything you could want or need. You have your own space, but are also welcome to share some good food, drinks, conversation and laughter with us. We would welcome anyone with any handyman skills etc. General duties include caring for the animals, gardening, mowing, weeding, fence repairs, painting, wood splitting and other odd jobs.
We can provide accommodation in exchange for 10-15 hours per week, and can also include food if required for the right helper(s). We are 6km from the local shops and public transport, so it is best if you have your own vehicle.

We are a small acreage about 100km northeast of Melbourne, with orchard, olive grove, chickens, sheep, large vegie gardens, two spoilt dogs and a cat.
Would love some help with weeding in the vegie gardens and ornamental gardens, preparing beds for planting and generally keeping the farm and gardens tidy and mulched. I would like more time to put out biodynamic preparations too.We have a hot house where we propagate seedlings to sell and plant in the vegie garden.
Barbara is a great cook and we run a catering business from home. We recently started a wood fired pizza cafe, which operates from home four nights per week. There may be some help needed in the kitchen but we do have paid staff for this, most of the time. For those with the skills, there may be some home maintenance jobs.
We often go down to Melbourne and you are welcome to tag along and visit the Victoria Market, or stay home and explore the beauty of our mountain ranges and rivers. I am happy to pick you up from Melb... more inside

To keep it simple there are two properties where I or you may stay - 1 in Parkville and 1 in Tooradin.

Carpentry for outdoor tent salvation and sliding door hanging in Parkville

Pool table loading in Parkville and set up in Tooradin.

Plumbing for hot tub spa setup in Tooradin

Mechanical to save still-running '96 Nissan Navara to pass roadworthy certificate.

"Parkzilla" Large Central Parkville Rooming House in need of help for projects or just help with light cleaning, trash, et al.

I can give you a contribution for groceries if you'd like to cook for more than one.

For short stays there is no routine full time labor, rather chores might include weeding or mowing the lawn or washing the windows or even taking the bus to kmart to get weed killer if I've forgotten it or being here to welcome paying guests (e.g. through airbnb).

For longer stays I often need a house manager or an assistant house manager. This requires a strong mix of "seeing what needs to be do... more inside

Have not hosted for some time but looking again now. As per reviews, most people that have joined us have thought they were treated fairly.

Comfortable accommodation provided in your own room in main house along with food in return for four hours work a day. Good workers rewarded with bicycle trips and further entertainment.

Work is fairly physical but I wouldn't say it is too terrible. That said, some fitness will definitely be required, the place is far from flat!

Not interested in VISA scheme people needing payment slips and things as that makes things way too difficult. Just help-x workers that want to see somewhere different and get some exercise while being put up in some nice surroundings.

I live at Lake Eildon on 86 acres of land about 2 hours from Melbourne CBD.
