Vic and Heather are retired now. We have lived in Europe for many years but have settled in France. We have a large garden and even larger dog; an Irish Wolfhound. Come January its the time to cut down some wood and stack it for the future. Last October Vic had a new hip put in so he is still slowly recovering. If you can use a chain saw and stack up the logs that would be a great help for us. You can use our car if you have a license.
Musician? You are welcome to bring your instrument along and join in for a jam.

JANUARY 2012 UPDATE -------

I (Franois-Xavier, 38) am on my own on the farm right now and due to my own business schedule slightly overwhelmed with daily chores. These include:

feeding a small number of chickens and rabbits. (and clean their mess, though this is probably a once-only task for the duration of your stay here) This is the only chore which is truly vital and requires regularity.
remove ivy from tree trunks. (there are several hundreds of apple trees here, though of course not all are infested)
prune fruit trees (apple and pear) and bushes (redcurrant, blackcurrant). Some heavy pruning is required for most apple trees, it seems.

I am therefore looking for a helper to stay with me for the whole month of January. (provided we both get on after the initial 5-day trial period)

What I expect from you:

I am a pretty hard worker in my own field so I expect you to have a fair amount of work ethic. Im not insensitive to hippism and antimaterialistic counterc... more inside

We are an English family who run a smallholding and are in the middle of a building renovation project.
There is a sizeable vegetable garden and orchard, and wild flower meadow where trees have also been planted. There are also flower beds to maintain. All of which is managed organically and sensitively.
Indoors there is light building work to do varying from skilled to unskilled, according to ability.
We love meeting new people and sharing this experience with those interested, and like our work to be fun and enjoyable. It is situated in a lovely peaceful village with many walks and bike rides, and is 7km from the small market town of Villaines-la-Juhel.

Small Normandy farm with brick & colombage (half-timber) buildings c1650s - 1850s. All being gently restored in a spirit of sustainability.
e.g. we have and we are building our own 3.7 metre diameter domestic wind turbines, have a recyclable grey water system, and PV solar panels.
We are looking for enthusiastic helpers for our restoration project. You can either come to learn a skill in exchange for your labour, or come and practice your already acquired skills. Areas of interest: general building, electrical, plumbing, joinery, brickwork, gardening (large scale!), hedging / treework, welding / metal work. All of these are available whether you have the skills or not. We would prefer volunteers who are willing to do full days, then days off, on a rota basis.

We are looking for helpers who have experience in baby-sitting. It would also be good if you possess some cleaning and cooking skills, since you will be welcomed to help us with cleaning and cooking. Cleaning and cooking is optional, only if you want to, overall the house is very clean all the time, we are only 2 adults, so cooking is not going to be much of a trouble.

We are a young couple with a baby and we also run our own business online. Our young boy requires a lot of attention and that's the reason why we are looking for a bit of help.

We live in the center of Avranches, and although it's not a big town, you can enjoy everything from walking distance. Also, tourist attractions are easily accessible from where we are located.

We will provide free accommodation to helpers as we have a spare room. We speak English and French at home so you can use us as an opportunity to practice any of those two languages

We have a cottage in rural Normandy, Dept 61, which we are in the process of renovating. We have a project of plasterboarding and plastering two rooms, ceilings and walls, that we would like completed. There is also a small flat pack kitchen to be installed. This would suit a couple / friends / group who have good practical skills and experience. Materials and tools would be supplied.
In exchange, we are offering free sole use of the cottage for 3 weeks whilst the work was in progress. The date of availability is flexible. This is time for the project to be completed and still allow plenty of free time to enjoy the cultural delights of this lovely area. We are between medieval and spa towns and 50 miles north of Le Mans. The cottage has a sofa bed and camp beds, cooking facilities, a renovated bathroom and two bicycles.
If interested, we do have another project of plasterboarding and plastering the attic.
All negotiable.

Hello, we are two dutch girls that have a chambres d'htes in Lison, Normandy.
Recently we have bought a house with spare buildings and 2,5 hectares of land, which we want to make in a place for horses and gites to rent out to people. At the moment we are working on the main house, to turn it into a gite. Most of the constructional work is done, but there is still a lot of work plastering, painting, adn finishing the gite. Also there is a lot of work to be done to the roofs and structure of the other buildings, clearing the land and fencing.
If you are a practical worker and interested to come and help us, we can provide a place to stay (in the gite or the chambres d'htes)and 3 meals a day.
If you are interested please send us an email or contact us through our website
Thanks, Claire and Marie-Louise
