This is an eco-retreat centre in the foothills of Snowdonia. We host a wide range of workshops, retreats and events from the 1st March to 31st October. Check the website programme to see examples. We have a resident community ranging from four to seven people and extra accommodation for three or four volunteers. We need help cleaning, gardening, building, doing maintenance, wood cutting, cooking... we have been described as a 'Welsh Shangri-La' and Snowdonia is a stunningly beautiful area. And there's a steady flow of amazing people passing through. So, plenty of perks! We would prefer people who can stay for two weeks or more.

Having a break from hosting at the moment

We are a small family run mixed farm enterprise.Ken works in Carmarthen and Pat works from home.

The livestock consists of 50 breeding sheep and a small herd of Pedigree Welsh Pigs. All the lambs and piglets are raised on the farm. There are many dogs which are either sheepdogs or sporting gundogs, two cats, two old ponies and a few hens.

We can offer experience in a range of livestock tasks which will include cleaning the animal housing so can get messy! We need helpers who are not put off by farmyard smells. Helpers must also be comfortable around large animals - the pigs are big but friendly!

We are currently in the process of building up a small horticultural enterprise. So far there are 2 large polytunnels and a large fruit and veg garden. We hope to expand the horticultural side more again this year. Some of the tasks for this will involve physical work such as ground preparation/digging. We can offer experience in fru... more inside

I could do with some gardening help right now, in October! I am looking for someone strong who loves gardening and would be happy to help me with sorting out my flower beds.
We are an Artist and a Graphic designer, who live on a small holding in a beautiful part of the country. we live in an old Farm house with a very big garden full of flowers, vegetables and fruit. We have lots of animals, dogs, chickens cats, ducks, geese and sheep, and a parrot.
We are offering accommodation and all meals in exchange for 25 hours help a week. We need help with all aspects of the garden. There are always jobs to do in the growing season, more than we can manage, flower beds which could do with sorting out, fruit to be harvested, hedges to trim, strimming, etc, and help with the animals at certain times of year.
We are friendly and easy going.
The house is old fashioned and interesting (but with Wifi). Guests stay with us as family. We are not a destination for the winter when the house is ... more inside

Hi, we are a family in mid-wales who share a house with another family and have a garden to manage at the house.

However we also have another 1/4 acre of land 2 miles from the house in a beautiful spot in the hills. Here we are establishing a "No Dig" garden (at the moment there is still a lot of digging to do!). There is a small caravan here too.

This is a really quiet spot, the helpers would be able to stay in the caravan. It is a very basic, simple set-up, ideal for someone who wants to get away from everything.

We have a water filter and are in process of building a compost toilet. Plans to have a small solar setup in 2016.

Helpers would have to be self-sufficient in cooking, we would leave food but you'd have to cook yourselves. Option to stay a night at the house but we have a new baby so not too much room!

Length of time to stay: can be negotiated.

What's the deal?
30 hours a week work (usually over 5 days) for all meals and lodgings for the whole week.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR HELPERS TO COME IN SEPTEMBER 2015. THANK YOU!

We are in rural Pembrokeshire, south west Wales - one of the most beautiful and interesting areas in the UK, with lots of old castles, lovely sandy beaches and rolling countryside. It is about 4 miles from Tenby and 8 Miles from Pembroke, and with beaches within 20 minutes walk. If you have a car you will have much more freedom to explore, however there is a bus service about ten minutes walk away, and a train station about 20 minutes walk...so if you enjoy walking and the coast - this is the place to be!

Our house is set in about two acres - divided into garden, paddock and rough land. We have a demanding 9 month old pup, two retired horses and a cat so being an animal lover is essential as you may be asked to look after the dog and muck out the horses, The dog is still in training so don't expect perfect manners...most pups can be annoying at times, and she is a big pup! Also quite bossy, so you need to be a... more inside

I live on a tiny smallholding overlooking the sea in wild west wales. It is a beautiful area of ancient woodland, sea and beaches, and lots of people who live simply on the earth. I am currently building a house and am looking for someone who loves cooking to cook for a team of three. We do eat meat, but we like mostly salads and vegetables on our plates! Cleaning duties also. (If you are a couple then the other person could help with firewood cutting, smallholding maintenance and easy building work.) We are a fun team - who build with joy and laugh a lot - and also support each other when we cry! I love yoga and meditation. The accommodation is a caravan with electricity and heater. Compost toilet. Access to hot shower. VERY LIMITED WIFI.
