Spend a Holiday with us on our farm, and learn how to live of your own land!

We live on our small oasis of piece and nature close to the charming Village Sneem on the Ring of Kerry, on the north side of the Kenmare Bay.
We started our little homestead 20 Years ago. We have a dairy cow, pigs, poultry, bees, a large fruit orchard, a blueberry field, and a vegetable tunnel. The farm is managed with values for nature, beauty and harmony. Produce is largely for home use only, even so we started selling fruit last year as our blueberry crop was overwhelming.
We offer 3h farm tours for groups/families, showing them the animals, how to make butter and scones and candles. We also run courses in blacksmithing, cheese making and woodturning.

We are a small family of a violin maker father, arts manager mum, and two little girls of 2 & 4. We are a laidback and open-minded household with plenty of space and a nice little garden, 10 minutes walk from Cork, Ireland's greatest city, where there is a particularly strong music and food culture.

We are looking for help in two areas - with our girls and also with general maintenance around the house.

For the children we mostly need help with the every day tasks of getting them ready in the morning, walking them to and from creche or preschool, minding them during the afternoon, bedtime, or just light housework so Mum can give the girls her attention for 15-20 hours a week and occasional babysitting or cooking.

For the house we would love to host people who can help various jobs that need doing around the house. My husband is a perfectionist so he doesn't like DIY, but please be aware that he would expect a good job to be done on anything!

I run a small part-time thoroughbred breeding concern in Co. Monaghan. I currently have 3 mares and 2 yearlings.

The day starts off with an early morning feed which takes about 45 minutes. The horses are then turned out for the day and the next horse job is a feed at 9pm before the horses are turned out again for the night. Ocassionally if a horse is sick or has an injury it may be confined to it's stable so some mucking-out is required. From November to March the horses are stabled at night so mucking-out duties are required during this period.

I also have a few sheep and 2 cats.

If you are willing to help you will need to be very experienced around horses as the horses are racehorses and they can be unpredictable and are very powerful. In return the horses give you lots of pleasure. I also travel the horses to Stud farms during the year so if you're happy to come along you will get a chance to see some very interesting places. I cannot however offer you horse riding on th... more inside
