Simple, frugal living can free you from the rat-race, and yield resources for setting up your self sufficient lifestyle. Regardless of how the future unfolds families living a simpler life can reap more authentic happiness with superior lifestyle, health, nutrition, social enjoyment, and security, while healing our ravaged planet.

The era of cheap energy that has made our whole affluent society possible is rapidly ending. Simultaneously climate change threatens shortages of water, food, and escalating natural disasters. Small scale sustainable organic farming and self sufficiency is the only real hope for weathering the changes ahead.

Been here 2 years completed part of the house, now want to work on the other half, keeping animals, Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, grow our own food, make cheese.

Will provide B&B for 4 hours of work 5 day giving you 2 days off to explore and see the local area. Or Accommodation, breakfast and evening meal for 6 hours of work.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR MARCH 2010

Our property is in the village of Hotnitsa, 15kms north east of the university town of Veliko Tarnovo.

Last summer with the help of volunteers we built a straw bale house - see our website for a short video of the process,it was great fun.

It's a bit wintery to work outside now so we're planning ahead for March 2010 when we'll need volunteers for the following jobs in the straw bale house:

to finish the cob kitchen
to make a rammed earth floor
to build a deck
and to apply a lovely, white coat of Kaolin to the internal walls.

And outside we'd like help to plan and
create a forest garden, using permaculture principles.

We're happy for people to come for a week/weeks/or the whole month whatever suits your travel plans.

We offer accommodation in an apartment attached to our house together with food and an introduction to the local culture. In exchange we'd expect you to work 6 hours per day for 5 days a week.

The wor... more inside

This is an old pig farm set on the banks of the river Yantra. It is a hostel and camp-site. It is only a few minutes from Veliko Tarnovo.

The place is ideally suited for someone who likes rock climbing or would like to learn. But not necessary. I need help with growing plants and cutting grass, painting, cleaning and general maintainance.
