The house is situated very close to the Forest. Arable farming and forestry is the main work in the village. We have 2 horses, very small herd of sheep, chickens, dog, cat and a vegetable garden. We make our own hay and bale the local wheat straw, which we sell.We have been living in France since 2005 and are still doing up the house and out buildings. We restore MF tractors to sell, we maintain all our cars and farm equipment.
We are looking for people who would enjoy, gardening, all aspects of looking after animals and generally muck in with us with any help needed. One day it may be gardening the next delivering hay or straw. We could be working all the time, but we don't, we have an american pool table, small swimming pool, horse ride, go for bike rides/walks fly model airplanes and go to brocants(like car boot sales). We love the French way of life.

This is a small farmhouse with outbuildings set in 15 hectares of meadowland, with a stream running through. (It's not a working farm) We are at the edge of a large village with bar, restaurant, post, general store, hairdressers, motor cycle shop/club w bar/restaurant (Triumph/Royal Enfield). We have 5 friendly rescue dogs, 1 cat, and 2 large horses. La Rochelle is 1 1/2 hr drive away, as are lovely beaches along the Atlantic coast, plus the Marais Poitevin (green Venice). We will need help for a week in September as we organise a Fun Dog Show - this year will be the 3rd one. The date of the show is Sunday 9th September 2012. We will need help a few days beforehand with setting up the showground, also on the day and then a couple of days afterwards taking everything down. Accommodation is a double room in the house.

We are an English couple who moved to France 4 years ago because we wanted a different lifestyle to bring up our young children. Our house is still being renovated and therefore is not the smartest place, with building materials all over the place and half started projects surrounding us. We have just less than 2 hectares which comprises the house, orchard area, vegetable garden, fields and lake. Much of this is overgrown and we are gradually clearly, replanting and developing. Please note, we live in a small village, with no amenities close by.

Although we were both experienced with renovating houses in the UK we didnít anticipate how much having children would impact on our ability to get things done and have therefore not moved forward as fast as we expected.

We are smokers, although not in the house and we eat mostly meat orientated meals although are happy to try vegetarian meals occasionally.

Small farm - having sheep, chickens, geese, rabbits and pygmy goats. The land is woodland and grassland and our aim is to manage the woods and develop more pasture land for the sheep. We also have about 300 grape vines of various types. The house is old and renovation is almost complete - it dating from around 1700. Before we bought the property in 2005 the land was never properly fenced and cared for - but we hope to remedy this within the next few years, but there is a lot of fencing, scrub clearing and tree planting and cutting to do. Butiat is a very small hamlet comprising 6 houses in total - 17 persons, but one house is owned by English people using it as a holiday home. The Charente (Department 16) is mainly agriculture. The area is famous for its Pineau, a fortified wine used as an aperitif.

Hi, we've got a bed and breakfast in the Charente in France. We're nearly there with the renovation, but there's still a few last things to do:

1. Installation of a small kitchen (like the one in my photo - which is the communal kitchen in our B&B).

2. Installation of a 2nd bathroom (similar to the one visible in the photos) for our family use.

3. There are 2 rooms which are still waiting to have their ceilings replaced.

You will need to be qualified and experienced in general building work: Basic plumbing, electrical and renovation skills etc (installation of a bathroom and kitchen and some plaster work..)

Housework: General housework, ironing etc and help with the Bed and breakfast (often required at weekends)

General Gardening work and help with the animals.

Would suit a couple.

I've added 6 photos: One of our B&B rooms; our billy goat, Charles; our front door; the communal kitchen for our guests; one of our guests bathrooms and a photo of Confolen... more inside
