Our farm has heated accommodation and warm hospitality for the right person who will need to be enthusiastic and dedicated when it comes to our precious livestock.

This is a lovely old fashioned farm set in the very heart of the beautiful Devon countryside. The location and landscape is unspoilt and offers easy access to the wilds of Dartmoor.

Ben and his wife Larry and Benís Mother Tessa along with our volunteers and students work together to maintain and develop the land, livestock and a sustainable way of life.

We enjoy life on our 400 year old traditional Devon Farm and manage over 100 acres consisting of culm grassland, hay meadow, ponds and woodlands (43 acres), all worked by our shire horses. Our Woodlands provide a wonderful opportunity for preserving the time-honoured skills associated with traditional woodland management such as coppicing, charcoal burning and horse logging.

Modern techniques and home comforts are embraced but where possible the farm is run pr... more inside

We would like to hear from prospective helpers who would like to stay with us in September/ October of 2017.
Your enthusiastic HelpXer input is needed to help bring back 5 hectares of beautiful south east facing down land in East Sussex back in to use after being neglected for many years. Lots of chopping, cutting, mowing and strimming. Chain saw skills an advantage. Clearing along the most over grown section (photo 3) is now in full swing. I can't wait to see a new fence in there so we can get some goats in. I am currently researching the possibility of growing vines on half of the south facing field. The veg garden is up and running thanks to Michael and our helpers last year, and needs planting, weeding and maintaining to keep up supplies of lovely veg. to eat. The land is about 1.5 km from the house and is an easy cycle or pleasant walk through the fields via a footpath. We would also like help with DIY and other jobs at our home which is in need of some TLC.
We have a small... more inside

Our farm is now a family home devoted to horses and (soon) Berkshire pigs (plus some poultry). It borders the 12,000 acre Longleat estate where the horses are exercised, and you can go for runs etc. Also there's a nearby sailing lake as we have a dinghy.

It is set at the end of a private lane in the Somerset countryside but only a mile from the vibrant market town of Frome, and half an hour by car from Bath and Bristol. We have three children under 11 so some babysitting is also needed but the main help is horses, plus light estate maintenance type work. Also, we are about to start renovating the stables so any experience in building would be useful. Opportunities to ride, sail etc

3 hours per day in the morning and the rest of your time is your own. Driving license useful but not essential, you will have access to a VW Golf on which we can insure you if long stay.
