Nestled up against the Pouakai ranges with birds' eye view of the coastline, our home has a bush backdrop with easy walking access to Egmont National Park while being only 15 minutes drive from New Plymouth.

Our house is located a 10 minute walk from the Mangorei Track, which allows for access to Pouakai cabin and the trail network beyond. We have 10 acres of land, 6 of which is native bush continuous with the national park.

We purchased this land 5 years ago and have started the hard work of converting it from a beef paddock to a lifestyle property complete with gardens, fences, windbreak and an orchard. We have already planted upwards of 1000 (mostly native) trees on the property, installed an "infinity lawn", planted a fruit orchard, created internal paddocks using 3 board fencing and landscaped several gardens.

Due to the great popularity of the Pouakai Crossing and its start just up the road, the council is widening our road. Unfortunately, this means ... more inside

Hi everyone

We are a young dairy farming couple milking 220 cows just out of Hawera, south taranaki.
Now and then we are looking for help on the farm. There are all sorts of jobs on the farm and we will find something that suits everyone. Milk the cows if you are keen and not afraid of getting your hands dirty and learn how to drive the motorbike.
We are dried off at the moment which means we aren’t milking any cows.

There are lots of things to see and do around taranaki, You can go to the beach which is 5 minutes away, take our surfboard for a surf, go to the free museum down the road, play squash or tennis with us, go hiking on mount Egmont, play with the dogs, go for walks on the farm and around the area, go inline skating or just chill out and enjoy the sun,..

You will have your own room with a double bed. unlimited wifi and sky tv.
We eat our own meat and drink our own milk! Sorry, We can’t cater for vegans or vegetarians.

Feel free to email us :)

I am extremely fortunate to be living “The good life” on my little patch of urban paradise, situated in New Plymouth – “Beneath the Mountain and Beside the Sea”. “My Patch” is a very private well hidden ½ an acre of mostly gardens, with mature trees, fruit trees, large vegetable patch, a greenhouse, a shade house and 5 chickens. Lots of wonderful bird-life with Tui and Kereru visiting almost daily.

I grow mushrooms in the shade house at warmer intervals throughout the year and as many varieties of vegetables, fruit and herbs as I can fit into available spaces. There is always plenty to do as my garden is always undergoing “renovations” as I endeavour to introduce raised bed gardening.

Would love to host an engineer type person whom would be interested in helping build a solar powered drying room for dehydrating food.

From time to time I require assistance with activities such as pruning, harvesting, building simple wooden garden structures, chopping/gathering firewood... more inside

Hello, we are Kathryn and Vance (Deputy Principal and Nurseryman).
We are now into our eighth year of hosting many new friends from abroad.
We live on a 10 acre property with a large 2 acre garden in a tranquil setting which we open to the public several times a year. We also have a nursery to propagate and breed plants. We are on the main road (10km) north of New Plymouth which is a beautiful city, close to the mountain and sea.
High quality accommodation and meals will be provided in exchange for 4 to 5 hours work per day(mostly outside but also domestic assistance). 3 days minimum stay, full work days on weekends with free week days are an option that suits us well. Tasks would include general housework, tree planting, pruning and weeding depending on the season. We also have some garden development still to do in the way of timber and concrete edging so welcome helpers with these skills.
We are a very friendly couple and enjoy the company of overseas visitors. We would u... more inside

We are a late fifties couple, with one dog 8 chooks and 7 sheep, living on 3 acres of peaceful country just 6km from central New Plymouth.

Current, planned projects include a erecting a glasshouse, landscaping, building vegetable gardens, painting, fencing, and of course the never ending weeding along with a lot of other fun activities that happen each day in running a small farmlet.

Our understanding of HelpX is 4 hours work per person per day, for three meals and a bed. We understand there are other arrangements, but we would be happy with the above, or a variation of it.

We have wireless internet; mobile coverage is probably about 97%; no land line.
We do have a TV set up to use.

The accommodation is a either a separate 2 bedroom apartment, with mountain views, in the main house or a small stand alone cabin.

Regarding dietary needs, one of us is gluten free so can cater for special requirements.
We are a non smoking house hold.

New Plymouth is a beautiful ... more inside

A great attitude is the most important job requirement you're going to need when you come to stay with us at McArthur Park. Being honest, clean and responsible would all come in a close second. No skills required if you're willing to listen and follow our lead. Simple right? :)

I'm an American and my wife is English. We look forward in exchanging and sharing our cultural differences. Mainly we would love a helping hand in the garden and in the house with some light housework. In exchange for helping out, you're welcome to enjoy our home and grounds, the outdoor spa, and the love of our two rescue dogs, Max and Molly who will be your next best friends. We're both great cooks so your mothers won't worry:)

We have two quality bedrooms for guests- One bedroom with a queen bed, the other a single. Both bedrooms share a toilet and vanity separate from us. You'll have the upstairs part of the house, secluded and private from our downstairs living quarters. We share the dining and kit... more inside

Welcome to New Zealand.

We would love you to join us on a Help X experience - we have hosted so many people over the past 7 years and have loved meeting all the wonderful people from all over the world.

Our family is social, slightly crazy professional kiwis, with the two boys (8 & 12 years), and a 3 year old Samoyed dog named Chilli. We are both University Graduates and working full time. My husband works as a Senior Manager in Banking and I am self employed working from home which sees me travel away from home.

An exchange at our place will provide your own large room with a very comfortable queen sized bed away from the main house, access to wifi, and real kiwi family experiences. We ask for 4 hours work per day, with tasks involving household chores, child minding, gardening, or whatever we may have going on at the time. The work will not be difficult and will be chores that we normally do ourselves.

The kids are adorable, cheeky, funny, challenging, hilarious, energ... more inside
