Free guided tour of Magnetic Island for the helper! - Read to the end.
Handy one/gardener/cleaner wanted for home stay on Magnetic Island, 25 minutes by ferry from Townsville, North Queensland. You will be living with a fun, fair minded couple in their 70's who have made friends with previous helpers. My wife, Joan, and I enjoy the surrounding bird-life and tropical lifestyle and hope you will too. You will need to work for approx 4.5 hours per day, on cleaning, gardening or odd-jobs to improve our pleasant 2 storey home. We have 2 very friendly dogs who may need occasional walking on the beach. Would suit a fit and energetic person. Good food, nice house, use of the swimming pool. Minimum four days, maximum, if we like you, two weeks. Our languages: English, some Thai and a little of Italian and French. We are moral, but atheists, so anyone dominated by their religion is not suitable. Col is a tourism ace and will give the helper a free guided car tour of the Island.

We live on a rural property with three houses, and we're working towards becoming a self sufficient intentional community. We currently have 7 adults and 6 children living here, two dogs and some chickens. Some of our interests are: self sufficiency, sustainable food production, permaculture, native bush regeneration, natural learning, peaceful parenting, making music, being creative, having fun, making the world a better place :)

We're in the Gold Coast hinterlands, a half hour drive from Nerang train station, and half an hour from Murwillumbah bus station. The property is very scenic, in a valley between two national parks, with dams, a creek, a waterhole for swimming and lots of wildlife.

We're looking for people who would like to join in with our daily lives, and help with gardening, landscaping, tree planting, property maintenance, household help, or spending time with the kids. At the moment we want to build a new chicken coop, and build benches and a watering system in ... more inside

UPDATE: Looking for a general farm helper and family member extraordinaire! Love of swimming on hot days, family and watching movies highly desired. Stubborn willingness to jump into the deep end and Get It Done.

4 hrs minimum a day including food and board etc (we give our helpers the same lifestyle we have - total immersion! - but when we are busy it means more work).

Minimum 4 week stay.

Woodspring is a cattle farm in Inglewood QLD owned by Ben and Sarah Eisel. We primarily fatten cattle and feed our pigs/sheep/horses by sprouting barley grass in a large cool room. We do this to make some of the yummiest beef ever and try to sell it direct to consumer. We eat it at home too so if you're a beef lover you can't go past it!

We are not organic but we don't use chemicals on the paddocks, only household cleaning products in the sprouting shed. We do use chlorine bleach and you will need work clothes as they might get bleached (we can provide work clothes and boots). ... more inside
