My husband Russell and I run a family owned sheep and cattle farm, running around 500 Cattle and 2500 sheep. We are a young family with 2 kids (12 and 15 Y/O). We have pets, several working dogs and some native wildlife.

We are located in the heart of the South East of South Australia. It's a great half way stop between Adelaide and Melbourne. You will get Telstra mobile reception, We are 25 mins to town (Keith), 2 Mins to the local pub, 1 Hr to the coast (Robe) and quite close to wine country (Coonawarra). Weekends are generally spent relaxing or focused on sport and leisure. Your own transport may be an advantage but is not essential. We are happy to show you around the region and tourist attractions.

This is a good time to be on farm as the work is different and interesting.

We are currently seeding paddocks, mating cows using artificial insemination, marking lambs and having lots of bonfires.

Other general farm work also includes livestock checks and movements, su... more inside

***Helpful hint for all of us - Keep your profile updated with where you are currently and where you think you're going in the future***

I am a single guy in my mid-thirties running a winery in McLaren Vale and a cropping farm at Waitpinga. In addition, I work closely with my parents' business just down the road - a vineyard and cellar door - so there's a variety of things to do - vineyard and winery work and lots of other things like shed building, painting, spraying weeds.

During previous vintages I have hosted groups of Swedish sommelier students undertaking an industry placement as part of their studies. While here they learn about wine making and viticulture, gaining the skills to get a job in other wineries around the world - bouncing back and forth between hemispheres and travelling in between if desired.

McLaren Vale is about 40 minutes from the city of Adelaide by car; a little longer by bus and train.

I have opportunities for 1 to 2 non-smokers. The winery is... more inside

We offer a unique opportunity for HelpX helpers in outback South Australia and can host between 6 - 8 Volunteers at a time, plus our staff will be here ... you won't be lonely and you won't be left alone with tasks!

WE ARE WELCOMING HELPX VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT DURING OUR April - October 2018 CAMEL TREKKING SEASON.

It can take up to 25 days to process a police check application. Please follow the links on this page to complete an application - https://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/services/criminal-records/national-police-checks

This is in outback South Australia. It is heritage-listed as a once thriving railway site. We are a small family business operating mainly as a low-key campground and day visitor area. A major attraction to visitors is a bore-fed ‘natural spa’. The income from this helps us to fund our passions - ongoing restoration of heritage buildings, planting native trees and changing displays in our museum. Our latest enterprise is establishing a date plantation. We always appreciate help with a number of jobs such campground, plantation and garden maintenance; collecting firewood, fixing things, weeding and checking drippers; helping with museum displays, laying dripper lines, transplanting date palms, fertilising etc. We like to put to use any special skills our visitors might have and be able to share our experiences so speaking English is fairly important.

This is a sheep farm located in the centre of Kangaroo island , which is off the coast of South Australia. The closest city is Adelaide.

I also grow potatoes and catch freshwater crayfish as part of the family business.
Accommodation is a four bedroom house just for helpers and there is also a car for touring the many sights and beaches on kangaroo island.
Accommodation the car and food is supplied in exchange for 3 -4 days work per week.
There is plenty of time for natural swimming on the many secluded beaches and I can provide surf lessons if you would like to try.

If you would like to see kangaroo island with some local knowledge and also by yourself and a car then this exchange should suit you.

We'd love a friendly couple to come and give us a hand on our property. We live on a rural property in one of the premier wine regions of Australia, close to beautiful beaches and 45 minutes from the city of Adelaide.
There is some public transport to the township of McLaren Vale and to Adelaide, with a bus stop app 1 km walk away, but your own car would be best. There is a good shopping centre in McLaren Vale, which is about 3 km.The area is noted for fine food and wine and there are over 70 cellar doors, plus restaurants and a lovely weekly Farmers Market. Mobile phone reception is good and limited WiFi is available. We have a dog and a horse, so visitors will hopefully love animals. We are an older couple who love good food and wine, music, country life and equestrian sport, but due to recent surgery, we need a bit of help with gardening and odd jobs. The accommodation provided is private, with your own bathroom and sitting room, so, good for a couple, but due to health issues,... more inside

Come and experience living on an Australian sheep farm. We own and live on the farm, currently running 4000 sheep, but are looking at slowing down in life, so most work involves driving around checking ewes and lambs and waters, and moving mobs of sheep with the help of kelpie sheep dogs . We have been hosting backpackers from around the world for a few years to help with work on the farm and around the house but more importantly to understand more about other countries.
Visitors live in the house with us where meals are provided. Work varies with the season as does the time worked, though it is never long or hard, usually working with one of us. We prefer females due to past experiences.
We have a lot of kangaroos and other wildlife, there is plenty of natural vegetation for different types of native birds and animals.
We also enjoy music so have a large museum of musical stuff that needs looking after.
Kingston SE is on the coast so has great beaches when the weather is too ho... more inside
