Hello Helpers!

This is an organic farmland in a northern part of Hungary, in a hilly area called Cserhát. We are in the middle of the wild forest, between the green hills.
The property was a traditional cattle farm. The new owner, Gábor is dedicated to turn it into a sustainable farm, growing organic vegetables, mushrooms and keeping farm animals like goats, chicken, cattle, pigs...
There is so much work to do, which is a beautiful learning process as well, and you can be part of it if you are passionate about Nature-friendly way of farming, about animals, wild places, getting to know local people and hard work.
If you want to learn how to make goat cheese, set up a little cheese factory, then you are in the right place. We're turning about 300l goat milk to wonderful cheese with hands every week!

Our orchard is need provider hands. We would like to plant 200 fruit tree this autumn-

We are also looking for people with any skills(we really need someone who can drive BOBCAT ... more inside

We start hosting again from may 2018. Me and my wife are early retired Belgians (me 57 and my wife 55)and bought a litlle farmhouse in a forrest in Hungary. We can use help with the garden and daily things, like painting, digging etc. We speak dutch, english, german, french and some spanish. We traveld a lot when we where young and can tell you heeps of storys. In the eighties, i worked in de music bussiness and build stages for Pink floyd, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Simple Minds, and other bands, so we like to host musicians and music lovers. We are open minded, easy going and have a sence of humor. We dont like to talk about politics or religion, just enjoy the time we have left. We expect you to help us with the daily work and in return we give you 3 meals a day( my wife is a very good cook!), get you drunk in the evening in our basement bar and lodge you in our bunkhouse. Looking forward to meet you!

I'm Cookie (38), originally from London but widely travelled. I like to think I'm super open minded, welcoming and friendly.

I've moved into my new place six months ago with my dog Titus (there's also a cat that lives on the land, Rosie). I want it to be an open garden where all are welcome to come and learn, play and enjoy.

I've been in Budapest for almost 2 years, and after tiring of yet more city living I've decided to live how I've always wanted: closer to nature, more self-sufficient and away from the stresses of modern money systems.

At the moment what I have is a lovely bit of land, in a lovely place and a small house to get started with. I have electricity but no running water, that's all rain capture.

St György Hegy is in the Balaton Uplands and part of the National Park, which extends into the Kali Basin. It's a great place for hiking and cycling, and in the summer months it's only 8km to lake Balaton.

St. György Hegy is predominantly a wine growing region. ... more inside

WHO & WHERE WE ARE

Help us in the creation of an open community space next to Lake Balaton. Free Port is a garden where we are building spaces for hosting people, workshops and cultural events. The idea is based on the desire of learning and sharing.

We are also working on a vegetable garden, which will provide fresh food for our summer kitchen throughout the season. The garden is an experiment for all of us, no chemicals and no rules to follow, but to love and learn. :)

We are an open group, with 4-5 of us (family members and friends) who are here more permanently, and others who join us for shorter periods. The atmosphere of the place is constantly changing in harmony with the people who are here to help, sometimes it’s quiet with few of us, sometimes it’s busy with friends coming and going, working and having fun.

Our place is in Révfülöp, a typical Hungarian “holiday village” on the northern side of Lake Balaton, 150 kms south-west of Budapest.

I'm going to open a small flat hostel in Budapest. It will be open from May ending.
It will be a social hostel when guests can socialize, interact each others and doing activities together.
I'm looking for a volunteer to set up the hostel from April 15 till the end of May. Things to do are building beds, furniture, decoration, painting, taking pictures, doing digital marketing, advertising.
And then one volunteer to help in the daily routine in the hostel in June.
Budapest is a vibrant and multicultural city. You will have plenty of time to discover it and its culture!
