We are located a few minutes outside of beautiful Golden, BC. Minutes away from some of the best rafting, mountain biking and skiing around. We have an awesome opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about Eco home building or starting a homestead from scratch. We purchased a 8 acre property that was completely forested a few years ago and have built our Eco home that we just moved into just over a year ago. Things are still under construction in many areas of the property.
We are able to offer a self contained 21' trailer with own kitchen and bathroom to one person or possibly a couple that are good with their hands and enjoy working outside. In exchange for 4 hrs work per day we will provide comfortable accommodation and all meals. There is also a wood fired hot tub to relax in. Work would involve assisting with building projects, some landscaping and gardening. There is flexibility to work longer some days and have some days off in order to relax or explore the area.

We are a family homestead on 2.6 acres of land, in the process of setting up and becoming self sustainable. We have been here on this land for just over a year. Previously we farmed a large-scale market operation(51-acres) in Birken, BC. Being a new farm, we have tons and tons of projects on the go. Currently we are doing spring burning, installing waterline/water systems, building and expanding our current garden, starting a new market garden, fixing snow damaged fencing, installing new fencing for pigs and sheep, as well as a new run for our chickens, building a duck house, building a stone patio/outdoor kitchen/sauna/greenhouse, tending and planting more fruit trees/bushes... as well as daily chores such as watering and feeding livestock, taking care of the kids... taking breaks!, etc. Having been wwoofers and volunteers before, ourselves we understand that not everyone is good at everything and are open to you doing what you are good at, or what you want to learn! we will do our... more inside

I am a single mom with 4 daughters who try to make a living from the farm. We move here couple years ago and there is a lot to do. This year, I am focusing on producing vegetables for the market, and establishing medicinal plants for futur use. Depending on the budget, some construction will have to be done. The construction of two green-house, possibly a basement to the house and some inside the house finition. I am really inspired by the permaculture philosophy and being more as I can green. Others than those project, there is some canning, harvesting, making cheese from our goat milk, caring for the animals; goats, yaks and chickens. The work is sometime hard and sometime easier, I try to alternate. Be aware that you will work around 6 hours a day/5 days a week. On the days of you can do special trip with us or just relax here. No wifi, but access to internet. There is a camper available to sleep. If you want experiment living with a French-Canadian family who lived diff... more inside

We are a gay male couple living on an almost 90 acre, off-grid land co-operative.
We have cellular / mobile service, and intermittent internet.
We produce our own power using a micro-hydro system which is currently generating 8 KW and is shared by us and the five other households on the land.
This land co-operative works together and plays together but is not a commune. We cultivate lifestyles of low-impact modern living in intentional community while living independently. We aim toward a lifestyle of voluntary simplicity.

We have a large community garden which is not certified organic, but we follow organic gardening principles and beliefs.

We focus on organic growing methods such as hugelculture and permaculture although we are always interested in learning about new ways to grow. We strive toward total food self-sufficiency, however - we are still a long way from that being a reality but close enough to see that it's nearly within our grasp!

If you like mountains, wildlife and exercise and you are interested in a true country experience this is the place to be. We would welcome any help and would love people to share their organic knowledge with us. No experience is necessary just enthusiasm and a love of the outdoors. Throughout the year we have a wide variety of tasks to do.
In March and April the cows are calving and we often complete some small building projects. In May we are preparing the fields for planting; there is ploughing, discing, seeding, picking rocks and setting up the irrigation system. We also plant the large vegetable garden in May and June. For the rest of the summer we are haying, moving irrigation pipes twice daily, building and fixing fences, gardening, hand pulling invasive weed species,and on checking the cattle, harvesting garlic, sometimes traveling to the Farmer's Market on saturdays
There are tasks for all skill levels and strengths so don't be afraid to join us.

updated 30 May 2018

NOTE: We are 'full' until the end of July but really want great Helpers for A U G U S T . 1 or 2 who could be with us for ALL of August would be our 1st choice, but splitting the month We are open to either one person who is willing to do construction, gardening and housework...or a couple willing to share work.

We moved from Nanaimo, BC (on Vancouver Island) to Cranbrook, BC (in the East Kootenays) summer of 2016. We really 'downsized': our house in Cranbrook is much smaller than our Nanaimo house was, but it had an unfinished basement when we bought it. We have now completed the basement, with a bedroom, bathroom, family room, workshop and open areas. The next project is starting on the main floor, hopefully doing the kitchen first. We also have some projects to do outside.

We are now looking for help with lots of projects:

* CONSTRUCTION: main floor: kitchen, updating bathroom, etc.
* yard/garden work
* painting
