EN:

We are a very dynamic French family. It is composed of Sybille and Benjamin, who have two children: Kilyann, 16 years old and the Lylou, 6 years old.

We live in Valoreille, near the French/Swiss border. The nearest town is Belfort-Montbéliard, 45 Km away by car taking approximately 40 min. Our village is situated at 720m above sea level, surrounded by trees and mountains. There are no shops but there is one Fromagerie.

We have a fairly large garden, where we grow some organic tomatoes, pumpkins, courgettes and green beans. Not for mass production but for our own consumption! We have a small cute dog and a very adorable cat.

We would be delighted to welcome people from all backgrounds to enrich our daily lives, sharing each other's culture. Ideally, we want you to feel as being part of the family and not merely a stranger. We take part in many activities and we are very passionate about nature and the environment.

We would appreciate someone who is outgoing, f... more inside

I am especially in need of people with good building and carpentry DIY skills for larger projects, and also for small jobs like tiling and repairs. Horses, goats, dogs, cats and chickens share this rural property set in beautiful rolling farming countryside where vines, fruit trees and sunflowers flourish, so you need to be comfortable around animals. Hi!
I'm looking for help in my house (mostly cleaning) and small garden, which is in an allottment. I live in a house/appartement in the center of the city, about 400m from the sea. You will have your own room, shared bath with me. Meals will be provided, can be vegetarian. I'm looking for someone who will do easy work 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, either inside or out, depending on the moment. This is a non-smoking house, no drugs at all, no partying. I speak English, French and some German. I am a retired woman, active in social-work volunteer activities, in nature preservation activities, in cultural activities, and gardening.
My home is easily reached by public transportation. The city has all sorts of interesting things to do, be it in sports (water sports mostly!) or cultural activities. You will have plenty of time off to use! And I can show you a few of the more "off the track" things!
Best length of stay would be for one to two weeks.

Who we are

We're a young at heart couple of English early retirees who have converted a barn to a house, which we'd like some help a to finish, renovating what will become a gite and taking control of the garden, which is a bit of a jungle at the moment. Never having had a garden in England, we're on a steep learning curve with our plot of 5000 square metres (just over an acre).
We're both keen cyclists, Nick especially loves doing cols in the Pyrenees and he keeps bonsai trees. Jackie enjoys sewing, patchwork and most things crafty, and is an aspiring textile artist, teaches English and basic French and plays guitar, though not brilliantly. We're members of the local cycling and walking clubs and active members of the local community.

Where we are

We live in the Gers, in south west France, surrounded by vineyards and 4km from a small town whose proudest boast is its motor racing circuit.

The help we need and what we'll provide in exchange

We would expect 5 hours he... more inside

*** We are currently looking for help for the following periods: ***

From February 2018 onwards and the whole of 2018!

We prefer to host couples or two female helpers!

Also at this moment we are *not* looking for men traveling alone! (Sorry!:-) )

Please note that we will be on vacation until 12 october, so it will probably take a bit more time than usual for us to respond to any messages! We do try to find internet connections regularly during our vacation.

Hi,
We, Eric and Caroline are a Dutch couple (40 & 45) that moved to France in 2010 to start a small hotel-restaurant-bar in a beautiful mountainous/volcanic area in the middle of France.

This is outdoor-country with lots of walking and cycling trails, fishing, parapenting, etc. etc. In the winter there is a large ski area at 15 minutes drive (Superbesse).

Our hotel has a homely atmosphere with 4 rooms and we have a restaurant with local specialties, bar, garden and terrace. We do most of the work ours... more inside

Following a terrible recent Helpx experience we are having to recover and regain our faith in people. Please contact me for further information urgently if you come across the man for whom I have left a negative reference as we can give much more information. We would not wish anyone else to suffer.
