My husband I live on approximately 12 hectares with most of it being native bush. It is not a farm. Sadly, we don't grow anything and we have no animals.

We are not vegetarians so we have meat with most meals. We are non-smoking, so non-smokers please. We also enjoy social drinks.

From the beginning of October we would really appreciate help with the maintenance of the house, yard and pasture. There is almost everything and anything to be done. The work may require using a brushcutter, chainsaw, ride-on mower, axe/splitter, garden tools, weed sprayer, and some hard yakka with a pick and hoe. What needs to be done is gardening, weed management, fencing, and building raised garden beds and some small building/renovation jobs.

We are happy to try different food so if you can cook, you are most welcome to share the cooking.

My husband is a building designer and project manager and works as a sole trader, and I am a public servant with a background in community dev... more inside

Hello, thanks for your interest in beautiful Tasmania.
We are a family of 4 people. Angela, ( a Midwife), David ( a Primary school garden teacher, with a love for science) and our two sons aged 12 & 14. Our home is 20 minutes South of Hobart on 15 acres of land we have lots of quiet space for frogs and birds, (and many night time animals such as wallabies, possums, quolls and bandicoots). We are close to Mt Wellington, and Bruny Island. We have sheep, chickens, ducks and a puppy called 'Pippa', who is young and adventurous. We like to grow our own food as much as possible, including honey from our bees.
We offer in-house accommodation (a separate bedroom with double bed with en suite bathroom) - see photo and delicious meals with our family.
In exchange we need help with house work, painting, building garden beds, cooking and helping our family with day to day repairs, or chores (like feeding chickens). Our children are very self sufficient, and we generally do not expect... more inside

*Available to host for around 2 weeks anytime between 17th Nov and 15th Dec* Chance to help out with a local festival, decorating the hall and working with the public in late November too!

We are a friendly family of 5, mum (Amanda), dad (Greg) and three children aged 9, 6 and 5 who live 35 mins north of Launceston on the Tamar river near Exeter.
We moved to Tasmania from mainland Australia in 2013 and have very recently completed building our own house and shed on 10 acres. We built it single-handedly except for the help of 20 lots of helpers who stayed with us for varying lengths of time and helped us build it all!
Greg now works full time and Amanda part-time, but we still have many projects we want to work on and want to continue hosting as we love meeting people on their travels and sharing our family life with them for a moment in time! We have made some life long friends along the way and couldn't have completed our huge 4 year house build without the generous ass... more inside
