Hallo the Farm stay would involve all sort of work involved with the farm and around the house and farm animals as there are ducks, hens, cows, dogs and sheep. While lambing time it would be great if you could help with the feeding of sheep and petlambs and help with the cooking etc but it all depends on the time of the year. An applicant has to be friendly and reliable with a good understanding of the husbandary of animals. In exchange we can offer you a wide range of skills. In your freetime you can explore the Island with its stunning views onto the Mountains of Arran a paradise for landscape photographie and relaxation. Or express yourself with some gardening ;)

We don't have a farm but live in a modernised Scottish farmhouse in a very rural location at the edge of the Trossachs but only 6 minutes drive from Stirling city centre (30 mins walking 15 mins by bicycle). We have two dogs, a tennis court if you enjoy tennis, we enjoy family and friends BBQ's weather permitting. We also have some great hill walks on our doorstep.

We are looking for help indoors with housework, laundry, cleaning etc. Outside there is a lot to do, grass cutting, strimming, gardening, log cutting painting, basic maintenance etc.

We envisage an average of 4 hours help per day in return for free accommodation (own room) and meals. We'd be happy to negotiate on this if a different arrangement was preferred.

This is a new project of a Hare Krishna spiritual community ('Sanctuary of Peace') based in a peaceful countryside next to a small historical town Lesmahagow. Krishna Eco Farm is being developed as a holistic spiritual centre, to help re-establish the sacredness of life. The aim is to promote peace and offer a positive alternative to the dominant consumerist and materialistic world view. This is done principally by following a lifestyle based on the motto of 'simple living, high thinking'. In a long-term we are aiming for self-sufficiency, however at the moment we are making 1st steps.

Being a new project (officially launched in the beginning 2012), the eco-farm provides good opportunities for development and initiative. We invite volunteers to share their skills to develop this project. It includes a walled garden, 3 green houses, a meditation garden, energy saving technologies (windmills, bio-mass boiler, solar panels, etc.) and an ashram with temple for spiritual practices a... more inside

We are two families which run a micro-brewery, cafe and micro-micro bakery on the the beautiful Isle of Bute, (1 hour west of Glasgow, and then a 30 minute ferry). The brewery has been running for 2 years, and we started serving food and selling sourdough bread last year. The cafe serves hearty & healthy food that makes you feel good. We grow, forage, or buy local & organic whenever we can.

We need help with growing, baking, brewing, cooking, serving in the bar and cafe and just lend a helping hand.Between the two families we have three children under 4 years old, so would be great if you are comfortable with wee ones.

we still have space for helpers in may, june and july.

We moved here in the Summer of 2014. At that time it was 15 acres of bare land used for traditional agricultural purposes. The smallholding is a predominantly gentle North facing slope in a secluded valley with it's own unusual micro climate.

Since then we have planted over 1200 trees, started developing a vegetable garden and built various buildings including the small cabin that we now live in.

We are entirely OFF GRID. Our loo is a composting one, we have electricity from solar panels and water is from our burn on the land. We do have a hot shower which feels like luxury after working outside!

We have got a basic infrastructure in place, but we have so many things we are working on, from a new tree bog, to fencing, to development of swales and ponds as well as gardening and livestock management. We will try and provide a variety of jobs so you don't get bored, and to give you an idea of what off-grid smallholding life really entails.

We would expect you to work... more inside

Hi,
I think I'll start by introducing you to our family! I'm Connor, I live with my daughter Iona (aka the squid) and my mum in a nice house in a village outside Edinburgh. We have been hosting through various programs for a long time (anyone remember globalfreeloaders?) and love the variety of experiences it brings into our lives.

The thing we most want to do at the moment is getting the house (interior!!) painted, that's a lot of painting and I really want to find someone with experience if possible. Also there will be some garden work (nothing very heavy though).

If you're good with young children or have nannying experience that would be a huge bonus, our girl is inquisitive and will want to play with you. Iona may sometimes need of somebody to walk her to and from school a couple of days a week, take her to the park, do arts/crafts activities with and maybe fix a light evening meal if I'm out. If you enjoy working with children Iona always enjoys help with her home... more inside
