Our organisation is a non-denominational community support service funded by our local op-shop on the New England Highway at Nemingha via Tamworth. We are Simply Stronger Communities, and provide a 3-step Information, Referral and Advocacy service for those in our community who are falling behind and cannot cope with all the bureaucratic and administrative changes in our society. We are in the process of also commencing our Every Body Matters Community Fund, designed to support isolated people. Our new op-shop enables us to be largely self-funding, and we have just this week (January 2014) opened a 2nd-hand furniture and soft furnishings showroom adjacent to our main shop. We also sell plants in the shop produced in the greenhouse on our property 'Thirri Thirri' which is located nearby to the op-shop. We have a small number of dedicated and reliable volunteers but we need general hands to both support the volunteers and to assist with cleaning, housework, erecting greenhouse exte... more inside

Hi.
We manage 100 acres on the outskirts of Newcastle and own 40 of those acres.
We have sheep, chickens, native birds and we care for the neighbours alpacas.
We have a vacant one bedroom self contained house available for a couple, single or small group on the edge of rainforest.
We are fitting out a 100m2 split level shed as a house for people to stay in as well and at the moment we are living there.
The house is 80% finished and we just need that bit of a helping hand to get it done and still maintain the property.
We have struggled to keep the weeds down in the large vege patch and properly care for all the animals as we are living on the neighbouring farm.
The house that you would be staying in is a converted school building but is fully converted inside to a house.
We have only had one previous couple stay with us from couchsurfing who also used helpx and recommended it to us.
We were an organic farm up until about six months ago when we started using roundup... more inside

A rural residential property on the outskirts of Byron Bay.
The cottage is set in rambling subtropical gardens with an outlook to a natural waterway and waterbirds.
We offer accomodation and meals, by arrangement,in return for help in the garden and with the hens as well as general maintenance.Cooking is also an option.
Generally speaking a car is desirable but we can offer transport as part of our overall arrangement. There is however a cycle path into the township. It may take about 15 minutes to cycle in.
The surrounds are private, peaceful, melodic and beautiful .

Our place is on the NSW south coast about 4 hrs from Sydney and 2.5 hrs from Canberra by car. We are close to beaches and state forest. We are a small, family run mixed farm enterprise which focuses upon producing fresh, good quality and healthy food for sale at a twice-weekly market. We also offer training for people looking to get into small farming. See our website for more details about our farm.

Help-Xers would be mostly involved with our vegetable growing operation and chickens but from time to time help will be required with cattle, fencing, building, markets and other farm chores and we could also tailor jobs to suit your skills.

Minimum stay would be one week but we prefer 2 weeks. Accommodation and meals for 6 hrs work. We prefer people that are interested in growing and raising food.

NOTE 5th January. We've had a cancellation this month and have available room until the end of January 2014. Couples welcome as well as individuals.

I think we have a couple of helpers organised for February/March, but you are welcome to email us if you have a solid background with horse-working.

One very important thing I forgot to mention is that you ride at your own risk, therefore you simply must have an appropriate travel insurance to cover you riding and farm activities - medicare is only available to Australian citizens so you may end up paying a lot of money for medical treatment if you do not have the right cover. (We do our best to keep riders safe, but horse-riding is a dangerous activity and accidents are always possible no matter how good you are)
....................................

We would like to offer work on a farm near Canberra to 1 or 2 helpx visitors from February 2014. A minimum stay of 3 weeks is desirable.

We are farmers who live in the Burra Valley, about an hour's travel from the centre of Canberra. We are primary producers and live solely from our farm. We have only two pet sheep, Obama and ... more inside
