If you enjoy spending time with kids and want to live in a gorgeous coastal town, at the start of the Great Ocean Road, then this is the helpx listing for you!

We are a young family of four, looking for some help with childcare/cleaning in exchange for a room and some meals. Our house is in central Torquay, within walking distance (10mins) to the shops, beach, parks etc. Length of stays to range from 4-12 weeks, with the first week being considered a probation period. The hours of work are flexible, with the majority of the assistance being during the week, with occasional weekend help. A guideline would be 2-4 hours of work Monday-Friday, for a room and some dinners. These details can be negotiated when you express your interest in staying with our family. We live in a large house (4 bedroom, 2 bathroom and multiple living spaces) so we have plenty of space to share.

My husband works long hours (leaving before the sunrise and getting home after the kids are in bed) and trav... more inside

Hello!
Forget Melbourne come to Ballarat!!!!!!!!!!
My name is Penelope and I am a secondary school teacher and my fiance works on a farm, we are both 30 years old. We have met many backpackers as my parents also do Help X (Host ID: 43674)& many have come to say "Hello" or a short stay with me and now I need help as we just bought a house. We live in the vibrant city of Ballarat where there is Lake Wendouree (pictured), lots of nightlife and cafes, bush walks, a wildlife park and Australian history relating to the Gold Rush.

Dave and I often visit the nearby Grampians and Great Ocean Road which I have shared some pictures of from when we have been to visit. We love going on adventures and seeing what the area around us has to offer!

Because of our new house we need help to paint, garden and update a few bits and pieces. We are currently both really busy and need to have people who are practical and can work independently as our engagement party is real soon.

In exchang... more inside

FARM MAINTENANCE/GENERAL HOUSE HELP
OR
WORK WITH HORSES

We are located in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges. We are 10 minutes south of Gembrook and 10 minutes north of Pakenham. We are accessible by public transport - a bus from Gembrook to Pakenham Station regularly runs past our property.

We are both horse riding instructors. We breed hereford cattle and run livery for horses, as well as working and training our own horses.

Running a property and business, as well as bringing up a 10 year old daughter, is a lot of work. Add to this the fact that I am going back to full time teaching, and we will really need some help with the feeding and care of the horses, so we would love the help of a clean living, non-smoking female or a couple of females, to assist us with our cattle and horses, in exchange for meals and comfortable accommodation in our family home. You will be treated like a member of our family.

Your room features a queen bed, TV/DVD player and wifi, and... more inside

Hello!

We are a family with 3 young children looking for a live-in au pair to help look after them while we are at work. We are an international family and have lived and travelled in many countries. We speak English at home, but also French, Dutch, Greek, Italian and Spanish. We are both doctors at hospitals in Melbourne and we live in Hawthorn East - a short walk to cafes, shops, restaurants and 30 minutes from the city centre by public transport.

Our children are aged 4, 7 and 10 (two boys and a girl). The older two go to school and the younger one is at home, but may start kindergarten soon. The children enjoy being outside in nature, gardening, swimming, sports, music and lots of creative play and games.

Our previous au pairs have all enjoyed looking after our children. They have also enjoyed learning about our parenting style which is slightly different to the mainstream approach, and we would expect our au pair to respect our way of raising our children. We ... more inside

This is a old fashioned mixed farm. We have a flock of Khaki Campbell ducks which produce duck eggs which we sell to local restaurants and green grocers. We also have a focus on small-scale, free-range, sustainable, ethically raised meat and there is a flock of sheep, some Angus cattle and Percy, Harriet and Georgia, our breeding boar and sows, along with possible piglets depending upon when you come. There's also three horses, chooks and two dogs to complete the menagerie. Oh and kangaroos and echidnas are regular visitors.

You will have a studio style accommodation to yourself. (Double bed - suitable for couples). Free wifi. Ideal for us is two 4 hour days of work / week in exchange for the accommodation plus 3 nights / week putting away ducks and feeding animals (about 1/2 an hour / night) Mostly you would self-cater but we would share a meal once or twice a week.
