Sorry, we cannot host any helpers until April 2012 at the earliest. Many thanks.

We are in the heart of the Vosges mountains in north east France. Great scenery, plenty of walking/biking, paragliding, skiing in season etc. Very peaceful and quiet - not for party animals! We are a British family of 5 (3 children aged 10, 7 and 6). Our youngest son is autistic so some sympathy/acknowledgment of his needs would be essential. We also have 1 dog, 1 cat and a rabbit. We are planning to fence off the orchard for hens this summer. We run a small gite business in an old farmhouse. We are renovating the house on a shoestring and we would like some help with the renovations - anything from painting walls, to plastering, to plumbing. Currently have an urgent need to finish our attic conversion, or at least get it properly insulated and electrified so the children can have a space to call their own. The job is half done and time is rapidly disappearing! In return we offer accommoda... more inside

Im currently building a house in the country side of france for myself as well as 13 handicap people. There is a lot of work to do on the project, such as roofing, brick-laying, electrical work and plumbing. The frame of the house has been completed along with the kitchen and a few rooms. I also have a peaceful garden with two donkeys, a goat, dog, chickens, ducks and geese. The volunteers would live in the house with me while working on the construction. Meals are provided but you can also cook for yourself. The work is not very complicated but is very labour intensive, but there is also a lot of basic work such as painting etc, actually my principal work is to build a wall with stones... Volunteers can stay however long they like, ranging from one week, or until completion. Please contact me by email.
voilà, c'est aussi l'occasion d'apprendre le français et de partager de bons moments autour de la table en fin de journée... j'ai pas mal voyagé à travers les continents et j'appréc... more inside

We have a complex of 5 gites, pool and reception hall.It is set in beautiful grounds with a fishing/boating lake.I am looking for someone for the month of March to help with maintenance, prior to the season starting. This involves gardening, painting, general repairs, and the ability to use power tools. You need work experience to be able to work independantly at times, and to a high standard. The work is varied and in return you will have a self contained apartment for the duration of your stay. We are an English family who have been in Normandy for 5 years, our location is rural but within 30km of Caen with good train links. It would be to your advantage to speak french.

Hello you, I'm Thomas, two children living here for 20 years and growing sheep on a 80 hectare forest and field place.
Since always, my house has been open, and helpex is for me, a way to carry on sharing nice work, with nice people in a nice place.

It's a well kept old traditionnal farm, at 4 kms from the little village, lost in the forest, very calm, lot of foot path with rivers next to here.

On a side of this land, a non commercial activity has taken place, witch is made first to awake school children about their environnemnt, we also have there a permaculture veg garden, self construction events, and some activities around the biodiversity along the little wild rivers of the area.

I use to welcome 2 to 4 visitors at the same time, to have an independant and friendly team !
Sometime, a visitor choose himself something to do in the place : Save this tree, carrying this wood, repairing this wall, without any push from anyone here. I don't mean i will never give any dire... more inside

The property is a large traditional stone house in the middle of the village of Belesta, which has a small range of shops, bars and restaurants and is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, 30 minutes from a family ski field and surrounded by great local mountain walks and adventure parks.

I would like some general help in the garden and the house: painting and decorating, weeding and digging etc. The walled garden runs down to the river, which also forms part of the property. The river bank needs some restoration and there is a considerable amount of interior decoration and restoration yet to be completed.

I am planning to set up a centre for people to come and stay alongside enjoying the added overall offer of arts and outdoor activities, however, I have a lot of work to do before the property will be fully presentible. The house is arranged over four floors and the accommodation is warm and comfortable with ensuit bathrooms. Helpx visitors and the like are provided with warm ... more inside

small sheep farm with lots of chickens and three dogs who stay in the house, quite a caotic lifestyle. We have two bedrooms available, one single and one double, but I think two extra people would be enough, it is not a big house. 1km from local village with shops, bar etc. 2 hours st malo, 45mins le mans, 15 mins Alencon. Wellies needed especially at the moment.
help would be great dog walking, some renovation, at some times of the year lambing, fencing, sheep care, cutting firewood, gardening, preparing the vegetable garden etc.
no accommodation available until after Christmas

I live in an old house in the middle of a very small, remote village close to the Canal du Midi, not far from Carcassonne, Béziers or Narbonne. I have a dog and a small garden, and in season lots of friends and family who come to spend their holydays. The rest of the time i find myself alone amidst my small 'soon to be paradise' home, trying to keep up with the garden, renovation (or only maintenance) and still enjoy going to the beach or explore the region. Yes, the region is rich in culture (medieval, mostly) and beautiful nature, and even after 16 years being here, i am still a far cry from having seen it all...
So, my idea was to host like minded persons with a back that doesn't hurt as much as mine ;) . Free stay for about 3 or 4 hours a day/ 15 to 20 a week, and we share expenses for food and take turns in cooking. If you are as set on being independent as i am, your own transport is a sine qua non.

Vic and Heather are retired now. We have lived in Europe for many years but have settled in France. We have a large garden and even larger dog; an Irish Wolfhound. Come January its the time to cut down some wood and stack it for the future. Last October Vic had a new hip put in so he is still slowly recovering. If you can use a chain saw and stack up the logs that would be a great help for us. You can use our car if you have a license.
Musician? You are welcome to bring your instrument along and join in for a jam.
