This is a farm-based education organisation. Our story is the 'shieling' - a tradition where folk went up to the hills with the livestock every summer. Schools, teachers and local community visit our site to learn about the shieling and through it the Highland landscape, heritage and sustainable lifestyles. We are looking for volunteers to help us run our small farm (croft) and support our educational provision. You will be able to help restore traditional buildings, build new sustainable educational buildings, work in our micro-dairy, and garden, as well as keeping the educational facilities clean and organised (it doesn't take long for kids to make a mess!). You won't be expected to deliver education, but will be able to support our staff and take part in learning - from Gaelic songs and stories, to dairying and archaeology. You will have accommodation in our staff house, with your own room and shared washing and cooking rooms. Some weeks we have lots of visitors and some we d... more inside

Hi.
I'm 35 year old easy going guy that wouldn't mind some help sometimes :)
I live on a remote peninsula in Scotish Highlands.
The peninsula is accessible by boat or one can walk in along the shore (8 miles)
There's some spectacular mountains around if you feel like climbing.
Population is around 80 people- mainly old hippies that ran away from civilization in the 60's . People obtain their electricity from windmills locally made and solar panels. No shop or a pub on the peninsula.
Soon the place that I'm renting now will be sold and I will find myself in an urgent need to build some sort of a dwelling to be able to stay on this beautiful peninsula for a couple more years. I'm thinking about building it from pallets and from any random materials that will be at hand- very nice open project for people with some basic joinery skills. Pallets need to be obtained from the local town and ferried across the loch on a small boat. I would also would also need some help with putting u... more inside

LOOKING FOR 7-21 SEPTEMBER 2016

We offer a unique holiday experience where guests stay in hand crafted French Roulottes around a lochan (small loch/lake) in a wildflower meadow. We have 7 Roulottes, holiday cottage and Bowtop where guests stay for short breaks to enjoy life in the countryside in harmony with nature - eco, chic and romantic! Our Studio is also available for Workshops, Events, Celebrations, Family and Friends Get togethers, Elopements and Boutique Weddings with 22 guests able to stay on site.

We require help throughout the year as well as in the busy summer/autumn months, mainly with changeover duties and housekeeping alongside our friendly changeover team but also gardening, meeting and greeting guests, organising the eco hot tubs, general maintenance, painting, feeding the chickens and pet geese, walking the dogs, etc. We also like helpers who are willing to take a turn in cooking for the team of helpers and us and welcome tasting your favourite recipes from... more inside

UPDATE 14th July 2016:

I am not currently able to host helpers.
(Next potential date is July 2017 - please don't enquire about any dates before then. If anything changes and I'm able to host sooner, I will update here).

******

I can VERY OCCASIONALLY host helpers at my holiday cottage. As it is normally let out to holiday-makers there are only very few and very specific dates that we can take helpers. And often these aren't planned until close to the time.
The cottage is beside Loch Fyne on the west coast of Scotland (about 2.25 hours drive from Glasgow). It's an incredible place with a river, secluded beach and sea-loch all within 200m of the cottage - check out the photos!

We have hours of daylight in Scottish summer so when not working there is plenty of time to relax or get up to all the fun stuff you can do round about... e.g. going boating, fishing, playing tennis, table-tennis, golf, walks on the beach/up the hill, taking photos, observing the wildlife, cooking... more inside

We are a community vegetable garden in a remote coastal village in the Highlands of Scotland. We supply the local community and visitors to the area with fruit, vegetables and flowers. We have basic but comfortable caravan accommodation for two people in the garden itself. Although part of the week would be spent with us - a couple in our forties - you would need to be able to work independently and alone at times. It is a beautiful place with the opportunity to see amazing wildlife, explore mountains and beaches and enjoy a warm welcome from the local community.

20 acres of beautiful mixed woodland in the stunning Trossachs National Park, needing helpers to tree thin, create paths, dig drainage , help create a forest garden orchard, repair deer fencing, and build decking platforms for bell tent camping. There is one room available in our house in the village for two workers to share, or a cosy rustic yurt with wood burning stove and composting toilet in the woods.
6 hours a day, Monday to Fridays, with weekends off when you can borrow bikes, or a two man canoe, hill walk, or we can give you a lift somewhere to site see.

Have spare single room usually to help people out, require some garden work and odd jobs doing around house.
I don't accept scruffy nomads or cheapskates. I do this to help genuine people maybe find a place short term so they can move on and arrange a better travel plan or longer term accommadation whilst being able to relax in a comfortable and safe environment.

Unfortunately I have unexpectedly been ill, but am now on the road to recovery Just in the full-on gardening season, and next helpX is not coming tomorrow. We urgently need a kind and confident person to help prevent the jungle getting control, to hold the other end of whatever Ranald is trying to do on his vintage car, and to take a share of the household chores. An interest in food, and the beauty of naturalistic planting are what are required.
required.
Our property is right on the shore in a small village in the northwest of Scotland, near the Isle of Skye.
We are both in our 70s, and therefore find some tasks more difficult. There is a need for help in the garden with wheelbarrowing; seaweed from the shore, compost for the veg beds, mending garden steps, using the strimmer to cut grass, etc.
There are fewer wet weather jobs, just general help with housework especially hoovering! It would suit someone happy to spent time off indoors, studying or writing. I am happy to help a... more inside
