We are on a beautiful horse property about 1 hour outside of Sydney, surrounded by National Parks. Accommodation is in separate cottage but meals are shared. Helpers must love dogs and horses. We need help with the horse management; gardening, property maintenance, bush regeneration as well as some building projects. Work hours can be flexible but should average 5 hours per day. We'd like helpers to stay at least a week to 10 days. Longer stays are possible. We prefer helpers who have some experience with horses and/or property maintenance. Non-smokers only please.

David & Marianne own a mixed grazing property in the Upper Hunter NSW running approx. 120 crossbred cows and 230 Dorper ewes with their progeny. We practice rotational grazing and Low Stress Stock Handling. There are lucerne flats for hay production and a big compost worm farm producing our own natural fertilizer. We have 2 donkeys with one foal on sheep guard duty, 1 horse and 2 border collie dogs for stock work. We go to regional farmers markets to sell our beef, lamb, natural fertilizer and compost worms. There is also a large organic vegetable patch in the set up phase and 4 chicken.

Accommodation is in a caravan parked near the house and meals are shared with us (meat based, vegetarians catered for). We expect about 4-6 hours work in exchange for food, accommodation and being part of the family. Short (min. 3 days) or long stays welcome.
Woolooma is located 40 km east of Scone, which is reachable by train or bus. We are happy to arrange pick up and drop off.

My husband is in a wheelchair so any help around the property is greatly appreciated. We are very sociable, easy going and enjoy meeting new people.

I own a large shared house, lots of birds and trees with a very large, varied garden and vege patch, running down to a creek, which is the boundary.

On the property, I keep chooks and turkeys, and inside there's my fox terrier, and canaries on the veranda.

The work here is varied: and no hard work, mostly just vegetable gardening, what you do shall be determined by your interests and abilities, but in the past we've had helpers mow the lawn, cut down trees, chop firewood, make wooden platforms, create gardens, anything that's practical to do at any given time. Carpentry or mechanical skills would also be greatly appreciated.

We ask for an average of three hours' work per day in return for accommodation in our private cozy loft room and three square meals a day. Dinners are big , and theres always heaps of healthy food Most of us eat communally for the evening meal and no-one should go hungry as the fridge is always stocked up.

Helpers are welcome to take a bike ride and ex... more inside

We live in a large rural home on a peaceful 7.5 acres ideally situated 15 min drive from Byron Bay, 8 min drive from Mullumbimby and 10 min drive to the nearest beach. It offers a perfect balance between being surrounded by nature and yet close to town & ocean activity.

We represent a social centre in Dulwich Hill and a cafe in Newtown. Both spaces are based on Radical Anti-authoritarian principles as anarchist centres.

We have lots of gardening (council plots converted into community gardens), building, cleaning, art doing, creating recreating and organizing, writing, net webstuff doing and enjoyment to be done!

The cafe space is in Newtown and works on a volunteer basis. There is someone needed to man the cafe to keep the space open and to make some money for both spaces.

Both spaces run under a single collective (kind of like a worker's co-op) which is run by people who want to implement a grassroots perspective in society and educate them about the dangers of head first capitalism.

If you think this is something you'd be interested in? Give us a buzz and we'll sort something out.

At Banyula, a 50 acre property in the Mullumbimby hinterlands, my wife and I are creating a self sustaining enterprise. We need help to establish an organic garden, to tend to the extensive gardens and livestock and to create trails around the surrounding hills.
During the school break, we will be working with Landcare to remove exotic vegetation and replant natives.
In exchange for a little yakka, we can provide comfortable accommodation, nice meals and broadband internet.
Available in October 2011.
